Black and White Birthday Wishes

Hello, everyone!  Here is a mid-challenge reminder for our "For A Special Lady" challenge over on the Creative Moments Challenge blog.  You still have almost 2 weeks to play along with us.  We have two sponsors and the image I used today came from All Dressed Up.  Here is my card:

Isn't she beautiful??  I decided to give this elegant lady a little black dress and paired her with black and white patterns for an elegant birthday card.  I used my mini MISTI to stamp my sentiment, adjusting the stamp to follow her fabulous curves!  I added a little rhinestone gem to her hair and finished off the card with some white pearls.
Remember, you still have almost 2 weeks to play.  So, get inky and link up your creation; I can't wait to see what you create!

Peace on Earth

Happy Friday!!!  It's time for a new challenge from the Cut It Up Challenge Blog.  This week, the challenge is:  Add Embellishments

---For this challenge, we have a prize on offer for one person who comments on the Cut It Up Challenge Blog.  You don't even have to enter a project, just leave a comment.---

Here is my card for your inspiration:
For the last Cut It Up Challenge, I created this card which was made from an upcycled commercial Christmas card.  Today's card uses the left over part of the image.  At first I wasn't quite sure how I was going to use this part of the image, but it really fit perfectly with the sketch I found from Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2.  Last time, I paired it with some pink card stock, this time I used some blue and I really love how it draws out the iciness in the image.  To go along with my upcycled image, I added some snowflakes that I got pre-punched with some gift wrapping supplies several years ago.  I used some papers from a brand new paper pack; the pine branch paper has little gold foil dots as part of the pattern and ties in with the gold accents I chose to use.  I heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder.  I die cut a little bow from gold paper (brand new die that I've had for several months and hadn't gotten to use yet) and adhered it together with liquid glue and some score tape.  I finished it all off with some lavender pearls (the snowflake paper has some lavender in it as well)
In the photo about you can see the shine from the gold embossing and die cut bow and the sparkle on the snow in the image.
Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you will hop over to the Cut It Up blog for the full details of the challenge and to see what the rest of the Design Team has created.

Sunshine

I have exciting news!!  I was asked to join the design team for the Creative Moments challenge blog!!  Today is my first post as a team member.  The challenges go live on the second Monday of the month and last for a month.  So, make sure you go check it out and then play along!  This month's challenge is: For a Special Lady/Mother's Day

Our fabulous sponsor is All Dressed Up

And here is my card:
I decided I would make a mother's Day card for my sister-in-law.  She has three young kiddos (10, 8 and almost 6) and I think she is an amazing mom!  So sweet and caring and never seems to lose her cool.  I chose this beautiful image to work with; this chick is all set to go to the beach!  I absolutely LOVE how this card turned out!!  I'm not always the best at mixing patterns and papers, but since the papers all came from the same paper pack, they work together perfectly!  And best of all, I got to use up some scraps--the floral pieces only had to be trimmed to length and while I did trim the striped piece both in length and width, I did not have to trim it very much.  I did something very unusual for me, I used a colored card stock for my sentiment panel, but I think it ties in well with the sunshine sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by and make sure you head over to the Creative Moments blog to see what the rest of the Design Team created and to get the full details for the challenge.  I can't wait to see what you create!

Supplies:
Stamps: All Dressed Up "Beach Ready" digi; The House That Stamps Built "Mom's like you . . ."; Verve "Joyful Blooms" (the main reason I bought this set years and years and years ago was because I saw someone stamp it on patterned paper and fussy cut it out.  It had continues to be my go to way to use these flowers and I still love it!!  This may have been the first or second set I bought from Verve probably 12-14 years ago!)
Dies: Verve "Sprightly Sprigs"; Spellbinders "Classic Ovals, large"

Cards Galore--anything goes
Unicorn Challenge #85--dots and/or stripes (I used both)

Recycled Christmas

Happy Friday!!!  It's time for a new challenge from the Cut It Up Challenge Blog.  This week, the challenge is: This Makes Me Happy (so use items that make you happy)

Here is my card for your inspiration:
Now, I have to admit that this card doesn't exactly make me happy.  It didn't turn out quite like I thought it would.  But that's ok.  Not every card is going to be amazing!  Or at least that's what I tell myself.  But, there are a LOT Of things about this card that do make me happy!  First off, I LOVE Christmas; it's definitely my favorite time of year!  I LOVE snowflakes (even though I really hate being cold, I still love snow), I LOVE using die cuts and I really, really, really LOVE being able to recycle and use things up--the image and sentiment panels were from a commercial card that we received in the mail this year.  I thought the image was just too pretty to throw away, so I recycled it into this card, also the punched snowflakes were part of a collection that had come in a box of gift wrapping supplies that I purchased at a yard sale several years ago.  So, all those elements together make me happy.  Also, I love me a bit of sparkle, and this card was covered in it, you can see a bit of it on the snowy areas in the photo below.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you will hop over to the Cut It Up blog for the full details of the challenge and to see what the rest of the Design Team has created.
