It Is Well

Several weeks ago, I was a top pick at Tic, Tac, Toe challenge and was asked to be a guest designer with them for this week!  Here is the Tic, Tac, Toe board:
Here is the card I created:
I actually managed to use the entire board (I love it when that happens)!  My sentiment is heat embossed with gold embossing power; it's hard to see in the photo, though you can see it a little better in the one below.
The circle die cut panel was in my bits and pieces stash and the flowers were stamped on scrap pieces of card stock, heat embossed with white embossing powder, colored with my spectrum noirs and fussy cut.

Birthday box

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built.  This week is a nice and easy one: Anything Goes!  We know how much everyone loves this one.  Over the weekend, our fearless leader and owner of Repeat Impressions, Wendy, celebrated her birthday.  I posted the card I made for her on Saturday, but I also created this cute little gift box that holds something special (I can't tell what, 'cause she doesn't know, yet.)
I thought it was going to be difficult to figure out the dimensions and went looking for a tutorial.  But I ended up just measuring the item, added 1/2 inch for the flaps and actually it was quite easy.
I decorated the box to coordinate with the card.  Here are the two of them together:
I hope you will get a chance to play along with us this week.  You can actually still play along with any of our challenges from this month, but you only have until Tuesday as it is now the end of the month.

Wendy's Birthday

Today is a very special day.  It's Wendy's birthday!  For those of you who don't know, Wendy is the owner and illustrator of Repeat Impressions.  So, my fellow Rock Stars and I are sending her some special birthday wishes.  This is the card I made for her:
Don't you love that little tag with the "w"??!!  I think the idea would be so cute for little favor bags, or even little gifts.  I will definitely be using that idea more in the future.  The blue, shaped panel under the sentiment was in my bits and pieces stash and was really the starting point of this card.  All the leaves and flowers and the sentiment were stamped on scraps of white paper, and the scalloped blue piece was also a scrap.  In the center of all the flowers I added little, tiny, yellow rhinestones.

So, Happy Birthday, Wendy!!  I hope your day is fabulous!  (This card will be on the way to you shortly--it's also my daughter's birthday tomorrow and we have lots of company and a big party tonight!)

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.

The challenge this time is: Spring Flowers

And here is my card for your inspiration:
Happy Spring, Everyone!  Our challenge this time should get you in the springtime mood!  Specially those of you who have been experiencing the late winter storms like we have been here in Southern New England.  My crocuses are up, but man, are they confused!  I'm ready to see some daffodils that's for sure!    But this sweet little bear has one, and he's ready to give it to someone special.  The little punched butterflies were in my bits and pieces stash and I wasn't sure they were going to work until I came across the butterfly paper and they matched perfectly!!  The button was recycled from an item of clothing that my girls have outgrown; that's how I get most of my buttons.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you will get a chance to play along with us; I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Lovely tulips

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built.  This week we have a beautiful inspiration photo for you:
No automatic alt text available.
For my card, I used the first three colors on the left: coral, dark gray and dark blue.  I also used a little bit of the green for the leaves.  And here is my card for your inspiration:
This is not a combo I have worked with before, but I have to say I LOVE the coral and dark blue together; so elegant!  This is one of my favorite Repeat Impressions images and today (with all the snow we are supposed to be getting . . . again) it is a beautiful reminder that spring is coming, eventually.  I did a little masking with the sentiment to add a fun touch to the sentiment.
I hope you will get a chance to play along with us, I can't wait to see what you come up with.  Make sure you check out the 10% off your entire order coupon in my left sidebar.

Bonus Love To Scrap Challenge Blog post

This month the Love To Scrap Challenge Blog is sponsored by Blank Page Muse (formerly Sin City Stamps).  Usually, we only post on the 1st on the month, but Kim, the owner, set us all so many fabulous stamps that we all agreed to create multiple cards and feature some mid-month.  The cards I made for the first of the month were very mixed media in nature.  Today, I have 3 completely different types of cards to show off these gorgeous stamps.  My first card is very soft, and pretty and feminine:
These flowers are so gorgeous!!!  Both pieces of ribbon were in my bits and pieces stash and I'm so glad I discovered the pleated one; it adds such a great texture, along with the embossing.
The second card is muted and artsy:
I started by stamping the collage image directly on a 4 inch square note card in dark gray.  Then I used my mini MISTI and stamped it again, on top, with a couple different colors of gelatos.  It had a beautiful, subtle shimmer.  Then I started coloring in the image with  markers and it was going well, except the nest looked way too dark and bold.  I was trying to make it nice and subtle.  So, I added a piece of adhesive vellum over the entire card.  Sadly, I lost the shimmer and color from the gelatos, but it did mute the image like I wanted.  I used brown and shimmery blue gelatos with a bit of water to stamp the sentiment and added three tiny blue rhinestones to the banner to highlight the blue of the birds.
My third card was really, really fun and a bit mixed media-ish, but also super elegant, I think:
I attempted the black ice technique that I have seen several places recently, but I'm not quite sure I succeeded.  My black ink turned out a bit blue on the silver paper, but it still created a really fun look.
I started with a black card base that was in the stash of card blanks I am trying to use up.  I layered it with a dark gray panel embossed with a damask embossing folder, highlighted with black ink and a bit of silver on the edges.  The next layer is a dark gray card stock with black ink dragged on it directly from the ink pad and it is layered on a textured silver paper.  This is followed by another dark gray layer on which I randomly stamped a watch face image, but unfortunately it is mostly covered up by the layers on top.  I used antique silver frantage powder along the edges.  It is also layered on the textured silver paper.  I added a piece of lace that was recycled from a dress my daughters outgrew a long time ago and a dark gray  ribbon (that for some reason looks a bit purple).  Then came the image panel, layered on a textured black panel.  And everything was finished off with a corner die cut from the textured silver card on which I swiped a little black ink to antique it a bit.

Cat Birthday

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built.  This week we have a tic-tac-toe challenge for you.  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to download the photo, so you will have to go to The House blog to see it!  I used the bottom row: fun fold, texture, and cats
And here is my card:
The cat, the sentiment panel and the flower were all in my bits and pieces stash.  I had planned to use them together at some point, and this card was the perfect opportunity.  I used a fun fold which I think is called the double slider card:
When you pull the one tab, both tags slide out from either end.  I stamped matching (but larger) borders, add the sentiments and stamped another kitty.  The sentiment on the left says "Wishing you a lifetime of Beautiful Days and happy tomorrows."  And here is another picture of the front:
My texture comes from the mulberry paper, the twine, and pearl.  Plus the layers and the plain purple layer has a slight canvas texture to it.
I hope you will play along with us this week.  Tic Tac Toe challenges are so fun, basically you are making your own challenge!
And if you "need" any of the stamps I used, make sure you check out the 10% off your entire order coupon over on my left side bar.

12th Birthday

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.
The challenge this time is: Lots of Green
And here is my card for your inspiration:
Green is perfect for this time of year: St. Patrick's Day, spring or my baby's twelfth birthday!  I can't believe she is 12 already!!  Her favorite color is green, so I took the opportunity to create her birthday card with this challenge.  I had already colored the little girl's dress and made it polka dotted before I went looking for patterned paper.  And I found a perfect match!!  The sparkly gold "2" was in my bits and pieces stash, I just had to cut a "1" to finish the number.

Dies: Spellbinders "Classic Circles, large" and "Teardrop Circles"; PTI number border die

I carrot 'bout you

Happy Friday!!  It's time for another challenge from Jo's Scrap Shack.  As always, we are now an Anything Goes challenge.
Our sponsor this week is the fabulous Lawn Fawn:

And here is my card for your inspiration:
I had so much fun with this one!  I created a shadowbox card (my first) with a lot of dimension and lots of adorable bunnies!  I thought I had pinned a tutorial for a cared like this, but I guess I didn't so I had to do a little figuring, but overall it was not too hard.  It folds mostly flat so it will fit in an A2 envelope and mail with regular postage.
I won this "Some Bunny" stamp set from Lawn Fawn last month and was so excited to be able to try it out.  The bunnies are so cute.  I stamped the bunnies, carrots, and garden box on scraps of white, colored them, and fussy cut them out.  I die cut two stitched hills for the inside, sponged a white panel with clouds for the back and die cut a channel for the third bunny to hop along.  You can see a bit more of the dimension in the photo below.
The pattern paper was one I had received as a freebie with an order from Lawn Fawn and was the starting point for my color combo.  The sentiment banner was in my bits and pieces stash, I trimmed it down and notched the end for a little more interest.

Lots of jars

Happy first Wednesday of March!!  Spring is coming!!  And today begins a new challenge from The House That Stamps Built.  This week is a Designer's Choice Challenge and Esther has challenged us with: Just Jars (create a project with a jar or recycling a jar or a tag for a jar--as long as it involves a jar).  We got hit by the big Nor'easter this past weekend and were without power for two days.  On Friday since there was no power and there's not too much to do when there is no power, I lit some candles and had a good long play in my craft area.  I had so much fun with this challenge that I actually have 3 projects to share with you.  Here is the first:
I've had this collection of small die cut elements that I have been saving for a Christmas shaker card: little snow flakes and tiny glittery circles among other things I've been saving in my bits and pieces stash.  So that was my first project.
My second project is a simple Christmas notecard that could be either a Christmas card or maybe a Christmas "thank you."
I've had this card base with the embossed rectangle in my stash forever and finally found the perfect use for it.  It's a bit smaller than an A2 card, which makes it the perfect size for showcasing this Christmas jar.  I had one layer of the poinsettia in my bits and pieces stash so I cut two more to finish the flower.  The sprigs were also in the stash, I just colored them with a green marker to match better.  and the gold, glittery jar topper was a leftover piece from the first card.
And last, but not least, I made a tag:
This was almost completely made from bits and pieces.  The tag was in my stash, made from lots of leftover bits of scrap paper, as well as the flower (which I recolored to match the papers), the sprigs which I also colored to match and the bit of ribbon wrapped around the top was left over from the first card.  The jar was stamped on a scrap of white, so the only thing that was not a scrap was the piece of vellum the sentiment was stamped on.
I hope you will get a chance to play along with us.  I showed several ways to use a jar, but the possibilities are endless!  I can't wait to see what you create!

Supplies:
