Classic Car

Happy Friday!!  It's time for another challenge from Jo's Scrap Shack.  As always, we are now an Anything Goes challenge and our sponsor for the week is Morgan's Art World.

Here is the card I created:
I'm always in need of masculine cards, and this gorgeous card image is absolutely perfect for a male birthday.  I had something completely different in mind when I started, but as soon as I laid the image panel on this patterned paper, I fell in love!!  It just looks so perfectly masculine with a little bit of vintage vibe to go along with the antique car.  I wanted to keep it simple so I added just the three screw head brads. It still looked a little too plain, so I added the black frame around the image panel.  I think it really helps set it off and draw your attention right in.

Let it Snow

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built and this week it is a fan favorite: Anything Goes!! And here is the card I created for your inspiration:
I used my mini MISTI for this so I could stamp the scarf in red while keeping the rest of the image stamped in black.  I used a red marker to stamp the scarf and then made a mask by stamping it again on scrap paper.  I placed the mask over the stamped scarf and then inked up the entire image with black.  On all the dots of snow, I used my clear Wink of Stella to add a bit of winter feel.  You can see the sparkle better in the photo below.
I created my own corner embellishment by stamping and fussy cutting the holly berries and leaves image.
Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will hop over to the House blog to see the rest of the DT's creations and then get inky and play along with us.  And if you need any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your ENTIRE order coupon code over in my left sidebar.

Use those Scraps

It's my turn to post a Pick of the Week project for The House That Stamps Built.  I'm always on the hunt to find different ways to use up my scraps and this is one of my favorite ways to use up little scraps.  All you need are scraps, strips of scrap card stock (this is a good way to use up colors you don't use often), scissors, and an adhesive (I use spray adhesive as it holds well and covers the entire area.
So, get your scraps together and a couple strips of scrap card stock.  I like to cut my card stock just a bit longer then the length of an A2 card by about 1/2-3/4 of an inch wide.
Put your adhesive on the card stock strip and begin sticking on your scraps edge to edge.
I like to use mixes of wide and narrow scraps and the length doesn't matter as you will be trimming them off.
Flip the strip over and trim along the edges of the card stock.
Here is my strip all trimmed.  You can see the little tiny scraps that can finally be thrown away and the larger scraps that can be used to create another strip.
It's really quite quick and easy and I finished 3 and still have plenty of scraps left to create more.
As for what you can do with them??  They are perfect for adding to the sides or bottoms of a CAS card.  It adds interest without overwhelming.  To finish this card, I used "Shepherd Boy" and "Christmas".

Supplies:
Stamps: Repeat Impressions "Shepherd Boy" and "Christmas"
Dies: MFT "Blueprints 25" stitched rectangle; Memory Box "Lindeman Snowflake"

A couple weeks ago, I saw someone use this image for a Christmas card and I was so inspired; I knew I had to have the image!  I added the snowflake to the mug to make it a little bit more Christmasy.  I finished everything off with a die cut snowflake, button and some twine.

Noel

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps.  This week we have a beautiful inspiration photo for you:
Image may contain: bird

And here is the card I created:
Ok, so I know at first look, my card does NOT resemble the inspiration photo at all!!  But, here's how I was inspired: obviously, that little bird caught my attention right away.  Immediately, I thought of the little sitting cardinal stamp, but cardinals are red (though I guess I could have colored it up as a female and kept to the browns in the color scheme).  But I did also use the grays and the snow theme.  So, even though at first it doesn't seem like it, this card was definitely inspired by the photo.
To create my focal piece, I started by stamping the cardinal and then stamping it again on scrap paper to create a mask.  Then I stamped the frame in such a way so the cardinal was perched right on the edge.  Then I stamped the "Noel" inside the frame and fussy cut around the frame and the cardinal.
Thanks for stopping by!  Make sure you head on over to The House blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done with this photo.  And if you "need" any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your entire order coupon code over in my lift sidebar.

Christmas Wishes

Happy Friday!!  It's time for another challenge from Jo's Scrap Shack.  As always, we are now an Anything Goes challenge and our sponsor for this week is Little Blue Button Stamps.

And here is the card I created for your inspiration:
I've had this beautiful ice skater for quite a while and this is the first time I've printed her colored her up.  I've been crazy busy for the last two weeks, so I needed to create a rather CAS card and my scrap paper strips are the perfect way to dress up a CAS card without overshadowing the image.  I added a strip of silver glitter paper as a separator between the patterned paper and the main panel.  It goes along with the sparkle I added to her outfit with a clear Wink of Stella pen.  You can see that sparkle better in the photo below.

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built and this week we have a fun tic tac toe board for you:
No automatic alt text available.
And here is the card I created:
I used the diagonal: twine, texture and sponging.  I embossed the background panel with my favorite snowflake embossing folder and then lightly sponged on some ink to bring out the texture.  The sparkle from the red glitter paper really adds an elegant touch.

Merry and Bright

Happy Friday!!  It's time for another challenge from Jo's Scrap Shack.  As always, we are now an Anything Goes challenge and our sponsor for this week is Little Blue Button Stamps.

And here is my card for your inspiration:
I started with this beautiful "Winter Charlie" image so generously supplied by Little Blue Button Stamps.  All she needed was a strip of my scrap patterned paper strips, some snowflakes and a smattering of clear sequins to look like falling snow.  I was afraid the sentiment would make it too overloaded on the right hand side, which gave me the inspiration for the sequins and by adding them more on the left hand side, I think everything balanced out nicely.  I'm getting a good jump on using up these scrap patterned paper strips I made earlier this year.  I think I have 4 or 5 left.  They are really perfect for dressing up a CAS card without overwhelming it.

Plaid Bear Hug

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built and this week it is a fun Designer's Choice Challenge!   Cheri has challenged us with "A Bear Hug".
And here is the card I created for your inspiration:
I just LOVE this adorable image with the kitty loving his bear friend!!  And after this week, it might be one of my favorite images to paper piece!  How cute is that plaid bear??  I can image it in so many other patterns and colors.  I stamped/partially stamped the image three times.  I stamped it on to plain white card stock twice, once for the main panel and once for the cat as it was easier to piece him ONTO the bear rather than the bear onto the cat (plus the dimension works better that way).  Then I stamped the bear onto the plaid paper.  It looked too plain without a sentiment, but the layout really didn't leave any place for one.  So, I curved my stamp and stamped it around the edge of the circle.  I really like how this looks; it adds a really fun look.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will hop over to the House blog to see the rest of the DT's creations and then get inky and play along with us.  And if you need any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your ENTIRE order coupon code over in my left sidebar.

Merry Christmas

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.
The challenge this time is: Buttons, Bows and Bling
And here is my card for your inspiration:
I used a button and tied a bow with some fun red and white twine.  I added a little bling with a gold paint pen in the center of my poinsettias.  Down the left hand side, I used on the strips I created from scraps of a Christmas pack.  I love using these to add pattern to a CAS card without overwhelming it.  I added a very small strip of red card stock to add a distinct break between the patterned paper and main panel.  It also helps tie in the red twine and the flowers as most of the patterned paper has green in it.
I hope you will get a chance to play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.  And make sure you hop over to the Di's Digital Designs blog to see what the rest of the team has made for this challenge.
