Masculine birthday

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built and this week it is a fan favorite: Anything Goes!! And here is the card I created for your inspiration:

I was definitely time crunched for this one, and when that happens, I definitely look for a CAS creation.  And it's more ideal if I don't have to color anything as that takes me a bit of time.  So, I was flipping through my Repeat Impressions stamps and came across this motorcycle which I haven't inked up yet being a little intimidated by it.  But I figured I could go with a black and white scheme and not have to color it.  Then when I stamped it, I realized you don't have to color it anyway and it looks fabulous just as it is!  I die cut a silver "happy" and heat embossed the "birthday" and was finished as quick as a wink (almost)!
Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will hop over to the House blog to see the rest of the DT's creations and then get inky and play along with us.  And if you need any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your ENTIRE order coupon code over in my left sidebar.

Spring Bear

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.
The challenge this time is: Include an Animal
And here is my card for your inspiration:
I just love all of Di's images; they are all sooooo adorable!!  This little guy was just screaming to be colored up.  I'm definitely ready for winter to be over, though I would REALLY like to have one good snow storm first!  We've had several predicted, but then they've just turned to rain.  My kids and I are still hoping . . .  After that, I will be ready to see some cute little Daffs poking their heads out of the ground!  I had a bit of a problem coloring up this image.  I was trying to fix things and it just kept getting worse, so, I'm not super happy with how the bear turned out, but didn't really have time to color it again.  And then, my marker slipped and made a long brown line right out of his backside.  Ugghhh . . . I was able to mostly fix it with a blender pen, but had to hide it with the hello die cut; which is a fun addition anyway.  I die cut the "hello" three times and layered them together the sponged the edges with a little bit of dark brown ink to set it off a bit.

I hope you will get a chance to play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.  And make sure you hop over to the Di's Digital Designs blog to see what the rest of the team has made for this challenge.

Happy 25th

We have a 25th anniversary party to go to tomorrow--a couple in our family.  I went with the traditional silver color and added a fun pop of pink with the roses.
These roses from PTI are my absolute favorite!!  They are so gorgeous and detailed and can be stamped in any color combo.  I went with  three shades of pink and stamped the leaves in two shades of gray.  I was going to go with green for the leaves but wanted to keep the only color with the roses.  The silver frame around my circle element was created by die cutting two different pieces and layering them together on the back of the circle; I think it turned out really cool.

Supplies:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink "Sweet Life"; Sweet n Sassy Stamps "Celebrating Milestones"
Dies: Papertrey Ink "Sweet Life" and "By the Numbers" border die; Spellbinders "Classic Circles, large" and "Filigree Delight"; MFT "Blueprints 13" stitched rectangle

Frosty Christmas

I've been leaving my (quickly decreasing) bits and pieces stash out on my desk so I can keep looking through it and keep the pieces fresh in my mind.  So, when I see a sketch the one of those pieces will go with, I can jump right on it.  This is how this card came about: I saw the sketch and almost instantly thought of this piece of ribbon that was in the bits and pieces stash.  I wasn't thinking pink at first, but as I was looking through a paper pack I came across this scrap of pink and all I had to do was trim down the width of it, which I used to paper piece the little snowman's cute hat and scarf.  I colored the snowman with colored pencils and gave him some snowball sequins to juggle.  So cute!

Belated Birthday Wishes

I love a good sketch, pretty much always starting my card with one.  And this sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge really caught my eye because of those little square elements.  I've had this little kraft square in my bits and pieces stash and was wondering how in the world I was going to use it.  So, when I saw the sketch, right away I saw that square in my mind and this is how it turned out:
I had a color combo in mind and I accidentally die cut a dark blue square instead of the light blue at first and then I had a miss cut with the first light blue square and I REALLY didn't want to put those into my bits and pieces stash, so I figured out a way to use them on the inside.

Supplies:
Stamps: PTI "Mat Stack 5" sentiment

Stained glass beauties

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps.  This week we have a beautiful inspiration photo for you:
No photo description available.

And I actually have 2 cards for you today:
As soon as I looked at the picture, I was grabbed by the folded ornaments and I thought of this "Stained Glass Round" stamp as it reminded me of the patterns in the ornaments.  I stamped it all over an entire panel and then colored them up using the colors from the inspiration photo.  As I was trying to decide where I wanted to go from there, I decided to cut it into two pieces, thus the two cards.  The first is very feminine:
I added lots of pink and little pink rhinestones to accent.
The second card is more masculine as I went with the darker colors in the photo.  It could really be used for both and I added the belated birthday sentiment because I am ALWAYS sending cards late.
The maroon scalloped oval die cut was in my bits and pieces stash--another piece I was struggling to use, but it works perfectly with this color combo.

Thanks for stopping by!  Make sure you head on over to The House blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done with this photo.  And if you "need" any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your entire order coupon code over in my lift sidebar.

Christmas Blessings

These three blank ornaments were in my bits and pieces idea, and I had a fun idea to stamp some poinsettias.  I have to say it turned out even better than I anticipated; in fact, I LOVE how it turned out!
I stamped the images on the ornaments, then colored them with my spectrum noirs, then restamped over the top (using my stamp-a-ma-jig) with versamark ink so I could emboss the images with some gold tinsel embossing powder.  The sparkle on this is amazing!!  You can see it in the photo below.
Down the side I used one of my patterned paper scrap strips. As I said, I just love how this one turned out.  And I got to use some items from the bits and pieces stash!

Supplies:
Stamps: Repeat Impressions "Poinsettia"; Verve "Beyond Measure" sentiment
Dies: Elizabeth Crafts Designs ornaments; MFT "Blueprints 25" stitched rectangle and "Stitched Scalloped Trio"

As You Like It--Favorite: birthday or Christmas and why?  I do enjoy making birthday cards, but I love Christmas cards (I need more of them, so that works out, too).  I love that you an use as much sparkle and glitter as you want.  AND Christmas is about the birth of Jesus and I LOVE celebrating that!

Make some noise

This card is a bumper crop of items from my bits and pieces stash.  The sentiment panel and the pegboard piece (which is actually two pieces, pieced together behind the sentiment panel) were both in there.  The other day, I was looking through some stamps and saw this set and matching dies from Taylored Expressions.  When I looked at the sentiment "make some noise" the tools came to mind.  And voila!  A fabulous masculine card (if I do say so myself)!
The blue paper is a tiny bit textured and it has a really subtle pattern on it that reminded me of denim once I got it paired with these tools.  I wasn't able to use all the die cut tool pieces on the outside, so I added the rest with the sentiment on the inside.  It really finishes everything off nicely.

Supplies:
Stamps: Taylored Expressions "All the Fixings"; CAS-ual Fridays "Woot, woot!" front sentiment and first part of inside sentiment
Dies: Taylored Expressions "All the Fixings" and pegboard

Birthday Flowers

Happy Friday!!  It's time for another challenge from Jo's Scrap Shack.  As always, we are now an Anything Goes challenge and our sponsor for the week is Sparkle N Sprinkle

And here is the card I created:
This is such a beautiful image and the file also comes with a single bloom and two sentiments, plus the images in color.  For this card, I used the uncolored main image.  I just haven't dared use a pre-colored image yet.  I did some outside the box fussy cutting for the main image.  Love that technique!

Yes . . . no

This is the final Valentine's Day card I made this year.  I got this stamp set last year and really wanted to use it.  So fun because it comes with the sentiment options that I used on the inside.  It totally reminds me of being in middle school and all the "check 'yes' or 'no' note passing that used to go on).  I used tons of patterned paper scraps by die cutting all these fabulous hearts.
Here's the inside:
Fun, right?  I added two hearts that were left over from the outside.

Love

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built and this week we have a fun tic tac toe board for you:
No photo description available.
And here is the card I made using the board:

I used the top row: love, vellum, red/black.  The red and black combo really caught my eye as I had this black die cut circle in my bits and pieces stash.  It was was too small for matting an image and maybe even a sentiment so I was kind of doubting I would be able to use it very easily.  At the same time, I had just come across a sketch that I really wanted to play with.  So, I die cut a heart out of the black circle and then die cut a larger black circle with heart cut out and was able to use the hearts in the layout as well.  Win, win, win!!
Thanks for stopping by!  Make sure you check out the House blog for the full details and to see what the rest of the DT has created.  And if you "need" any of the stamps I used, check out the 10% off your entire order coupon over in my left side bar.

I carrot 'bout you

Another cute little Valentine's Day card I created while playing around the other day.  I think this one is going to go to my little, 6-year-old niece.
The little carrot was in my bits and pieces stash and was kind of the inspiration, or at least the starting point, for the card.  Not only does it have a cute carrot and a fun sentiment, but it also has a fun interactive element:
The tab pulls out and reveals a little line of hearts.

Supplies:
