Relax

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.

The challenge this time is: Birthday Wishes
And here is my card for your inspiration:
I made a tri-fold card.  I just think this image is perfect for doing some fussy cutting and allowing another panel to show through.  I printed the image out, colored it and fussy cut out all the blank spaces creating the first panel.  In the photo below you can see the dimension it gives as it starts to open.
Opening the front panel, you see the second panel.  I stenciled on some clouds that show through to the front.  The "It's your day . . . " shows through to the front as well, while the "Happy Birthday" sentiment is hidden behind the hammock until you open it.
The second panel opens up to a space for the birthday greeting and where you can write your message.
I think the last time I used this image, I created a Father's Day card.  The image is really perfect for so many masculine card occasions.

I hope you will get a chance to play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.  And make sure you hop over to the Di's Digital Designs blog to see what the rest of the team has made for this challenge.

Blessed is the man

This card started with the turquoise star; I had several of them left over from a bridal shower and many have been making appearances on masculine cards.  Then, I picked out some bright coordinating colors and patterns and created this fun card.  The copper glitter stars were also left over from the shower and they finished everything off perfectly.  I also added a button recycled from some outgrown clothing (my kids', not mine!) with a bit of twine.

Stamps: Verve "Jeremiah 17:7 Plain Jane"
Dies: Sizzix/Stephanie Bernard star swing card set

Have a very Merry Christmas

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps.  This week is something a little different and fun: Sew Special (a sewing theme, stitching, faux stitching, etc.)

And here is the card I created:
Yes, I did make a Christmas card!!  It's been a long time since I made one and it is time to get started!  I started by stamping the quilt block image and coloring it in with Christmas colors.  Then, heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder, trimmed the image down and matted it with some red.  You can't see it very well in the photo above, but in the next photo you can see that I took a set of stitched border dies, taped them together in a row and used them to dry emboss the main white panel.
The texture is really cool and it ties in the stitching theme.  Then I stamped, colored and cut out the adorable, little moose and adhered him with some foam tape on top of some gold embroidery floss for a fun little embellishment.  If you look closely, you can see that I added some gold sparkle pen to the little Christmas lights wrapped around his antlers.
Thanks for stopping by!  Make sure you head on over to The House blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done with this photo.  And if you "need" any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your entire order coupon code over in my lift sidebar.

Unforgettable

I think I have loved almost every single set released by Birdie Brown and My Favorite Things Stamps.  This "Adorable Elephants" set is no exception!!  I actually went into my stash of Never Used stamp sets looking for something "pretty" and "flowery" to make a Mother's Day card for my mom, but one of the very first sets I came across was the elephants and there was no more looking!!!  In the past week, I have posted two cards using this same paper/color combo, so why not one more?!!  It's so pretty and fresh, and the papers were already on my work desk, so . . . You can find the other cards here and here.  So, from the previous card, I had die cut out the letters for "MOM" and I had them left over sitting on my desk.  I thought it would be really cute to pair them with this little elephant and have him holding the "O".  I gave him some little butterfly friends and stamped the sentiment on the bottom of the vertical strip of patterned paper.  I just love how it looks when a sentiment is stamped like this; it makes it a little more unique, I think.  I finished the card off with some melon colored ribbon and a bit of pale peach lace.  LOVE it!!

On the inside, I used a beautiful Mother's Day sentiment from PaperTrey Ink, and had to add another of the adorable little elephants.  This one looks like he is waving "hi", 'cause unfortunately, we live about three and a half hours away from my parents, so I won't be seeing Mom on Mother's Day.
I had a little tiny strip of patterned paper left from trimming the front panels, so I stuck it on the bottom of the panel inside to tie it together.

Supplies:
Stamps: MFT "BB Adorable Elephants" images and outside sentiment; Papertrey Ink "Tucked Inside: Mother" inside sentiment
Dies: Spellbinders "Classic Ovals, large"; MFT "Stitched Alphabet"

Mom

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built.
This week's theme is: All About Mom

And here is the card I created:
I had these papers out from a card I made last week, and I just really loved the combination!  There might be another one in the future using the same papers/color combo.  For my "Mom", I used a fun technique for lining up the dies perfectly.  I will be sharing the technique as a Project of the Week on Monday, May 17.  So, if you want to see how I do it (and it's really easy) come back and check it out.
For my card, I used the papers and a teal cardstock already on my desk, and I paired them with a bit of melon colored ribbon and some peach lace.  I already had the gold die cut piece in my bits and pieces stash.  I finished everything off with the stamped butterfly and some peach pearls that I have had for a long time.  They are not an easy color to match!  I had a little tiny strip of patterned paper left from cutting the background panel and it was just the right size to embellish the inside of the card.
After I stamped and colored the butterfly, I added some gold Nuvo Shimmer pen over the top which gives it a nice glittery shimmer.  It's hard to see, but you can catch a glimpse of it in the photo below.

Thanks for stopping by!  Make sure you head on over to The House blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done with this photo.  And if you "need" any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your entire order coupon code over in my lift sidebar.

Sea Birthday

A new month has arrived and that means a new challenge from the Love To Scrap Challenge Blog.  This month's challenge is Anything Goes.

And here is the card I created:
So, I've had this MFT set "Friends with Fins" sitting on my desk for a while since it is so adorable!  I made a card with it last week and I just had to make another one!  I just love how cute this little shark is!  I made a fun shaker card with the shaker element as a see-through element into the inside of the card.  You can see a little sneak peek in the photo below:
Here it is with the shaker elements "floating" around:
And here is the inside:
I used a stencil, a blending brush, and some Distress Oxide inks to create an ocean inside.  I used my stamp positioner to stamp the shark directly behind the shark on the outside so you have a fun little surprise when you open it up.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Head on over to the LTSCB blog to see what the rest of the team has created and to get the full details of the challenge.  Then get inky and play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.

Daffodil Wishes

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.

The challenge this time is: Hand Colored Image
And here is my card for your inspiration:
I used this sweet Daffodil Bear as daffodils are in full bloom around here right now.  I think my favorites are the ones with the white petals and orange centers so that's how I colored this one.  I was looking for some orange paper to go go along with the center when I came across this one with the teal elements and it was love at first sight!!  I'll definitely be using this color combo (and papers) again very soon!
I hope you will get a chance to play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.  And make sure you hop over to the Di's Digital Designs blog to see what the rest of the team has made for this challenge.
