Hey There

Happy Friday!!!  It's time for a new challenge from the Cut It Up Challenge Blog.  This week, the challenge is: Happy Birthday

Here is my card for your inspiration:
I have a little behind the scenes look for you today.  This card was inspired by a bunch of scraps that were left on my desk after making some other cards.  A lot of them looked like they could go together, so I pulled them all together and this is what I started with:
The rectangle of plaid paper and the bit of red ribbon were turned into my tag.  I added the silver star and the two connected black circles.  They are the base of a Western themed die cut set, so I die cut another small section out of black and then cut the second layer out of silver card stock and glued the two pieces onto the back and you will never know.  They created the star border that is underneath my sentiment banner.
Now, I NEVER throw away scraps of white card stock unless they are really, really tiny.  So, I took my little pile from the photo above and found two pieces that were large enough to stamp my little critters on.  Those little scraps are always perfect for little images that you are either going to die cut or fussy cut.
I also used on of the longer strips of white to die cut and stamp my sentiment on:
The strips of red card stock behind the tag were scraps, too.  The top one I didn't even need to do anything other than trim it a little shorter.  The bottom one was the same width as the top piece but quite short, so I just cut it almost in half and pieced it together behind the tag.  The middle strip needed a little trimming both in width and length.  The little silver stars were either left overs from the border die cut (2) or in my bits and pieces stash (2).

Not wanting the inside to feel lonely, I used a few more scraps to decorate it.  The plaid strip was in the first picture and the strip of red was just in my red scraps.  I finished it all off with a sentiment and the cute little piggie!
I definitely put a good dent in my scraps on this one.  Still have a lot of white (but I always do) and I wasn't able to use the gray ribbon or brown arrow from the first picture, but never fear, they will make it onto a card soon.
Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you will hop over to the Cut It Up blog for the full details of the challenge and to see what the rest of the Design Team has created.
