Precious

It's Friday!!  And that means it's time for another challenge from Jo's Scrap Shack.
I was given this sweet little image from Robyn's Fetish and obviously it needed to be made into a baby card.
My three colors are pink, yellow and dark chocolate brown.  My two embellishments are ribbon and pearls.  And, well, I actually use three techniques: paper piecing, outside the box die cutting and stitching (with an actual sewing machine!).  Can you spot all three? : )  So, I'm going to focus on the paper piecing technique.
I hope you will get a chance to play along with us this week.  I can't wait to see what your 3, 2, 1 recipe includes.  Hop on over to Jo's blog to see all the details and what the rest of the DT has created.

It's a Man's World

Hi, and welcome to another What If? Wednesday Challenge from The House That Stamps Built.  This is the second challenge of the month, so that means it is Designer's Choice and this week, Shirley chose: It's a Man's World.  So, create something masculine and you can join in with our challenge; it's as easy as that!  This was perfect timing for me because we are going to celebrate our neighbor's 80th birthday this week.
I started out by stenciling the stripes on the left side of the base layer with a nice chocolate brown.  (I know, it looks black in the picture).  Then, on a slightly smaller layer, I stamped the compass rose image in the same dark brown, stamping off once first on scrap paper to lighten it up a bit.  Then I used SU!'s Creamy Caramel ink to stamp the metro map image and also sponged it on the edges to give it a more vintage look.  I masked and stamped the image so the words were side by side, sponged the edges of the sentiment panel with the caramel and matted it on dark brown card stock.  A single button and we're good to go.
I hope you get a chance to play along with us.  Stop by The House Blog for all the details and to see how the rest of the DT interpreted the challenge.  And if you NEED one of the stamps I used, there is a discount coupon off your ENTIRE order over on my left side bar.  Thanks for stopping by!

Holy Crap . . . It's a Blog Hop

Please join us at The House That Stamps Built for a blog hop celebrating Repeat Impressions' newest stamp series... Holy Crap! Yup, hehe... it's true... Wendy's designed a humorous collection of stamps around something she's confessed to saying a little too often.

This new stamp series starts with a large "holy crap!" sentiment which can be paired with any of the great variety of smaller words and sentiments to create a wide range of funny cards. A few theme appropriate images are also included. Please visit Repeat Impressions' online store to check out the entire Holy Crap! collection.

So today all the RI Rock Stars are kicking off a blog hop to showcase some of the new designs and also give you an opportunity to win the stamps!

To participate in the hop all you have to do is visit The House That Stamps Built blog and the blogs of all the Rock Stars listed there. On each blog you will find a key letter. After you collect all the letters, use the letters to create the proper word and then email it to Wendy to at   wendy@repeatimpressions.com  be eligible for the blog candy.

I created a little quartet of note cards using each of the images included in the set along with appropriate (or, maybe not so "appropriate") sentiments for each.  I kept them nice and CAS to really let the stamps shine.  Here are my cards:

First up, the fun outhouse image:
This one is going to be a belated birthday card. : )  I'm always in need of those, as I often send my cards out late (just prolonging the celebration, right?)  Next up might be my favorite image of the set:
How can a plunger be cute?  I don't know, but I sure think this one is fun.   The "heard you're taking the plunge" is actually one sentiment but I masked it so I could stamp it above and below the image just like I did with the other cards.
Inside I added two more of the mix and match sentiments to finish off the theme of the card.
I really just love the toilet paper roll image, too.  I'm pretty sure I have never seen one in any other stamp set.  Ever.  Just saying!
I combined several sentiments from the set to create this one sentiment.  The "congrats" is part of a "congrats on your" sentiment; I masked the rest so I was left with only "congrats".  Then I added "you're" and used a third sentiment for "on a roll!"  The font Wendy chose for this set is perfect as you don't have to worry about getting the sentiments exactly straight!
And last, but not least, we have the toilet:
Oh, yeah, I just had to make mine pink.  When my husband and I moved into our house, we had one of those baby blue toilets in our bathroom.  Anybody remember those?  Still have one? . . .  Anyway, that's what I was thinking of when I made this pink one.  Kind of makes it perfect for cheering up a girlfriend.  You could easily make it blue for a guy, or, I guess, just keep it white and boring. : )
I couldn't resist making just one more!  The toilet paper roll image was just begging to be made into a fun background.

Ok, that was a lot of pictures and I know you are anxious to be on your way, so here you go:

My letter for you is
T

You must complete the hop and email Wendy the correct word no later than 5pm eastern time on Monday, July 11.  The blog candy for this hop… an unmounted sheet of the new "Holy Crap!" stamps!  Wendy will announce the winner on Tuesday, July 12 on Repeat Impressions' Facebook page so please be sure to "Like" and follow them there if you don't already.

Dare to Dream

Welcome to the stars of another challenge from Love To Scrap Challenge Blog: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.  All you need to do is add some (or one) star to your project.  We have three fabulous sponsors this time:

I was able to use this adorable image from Little Blue Button Stamps:
Aren't they just so cute?  I was going to use a cluster of larger stars in the upper left corner, but my sister (she's so smart!) said something about a circle of stars and I thought since it tied in nicely with Charlie's hoop for the puppy that I would make a a partial circle around the upper left image corner.  And I LOVE how it turned out.  I added some tiny, tiny, tiny stars to the sentiment banner and voila!  Finished!  I hope you will get a chance to play along with us this challenge.  Make sure you check out all the details on the LTSCB blog.

Supplies:
Stamps: Little Blue Button Stamps "Circus Charlie"; Verve "Borderline" sentiment
Dies: Spellbinders "A2 Matting Basics A" rectangle; MFT "Star STAX"; Verve "Border Trim Trio" the two smaller sized stars are actually the leftovers from cutting out the border piece--I'll save that for another time

My Sweet Friend

Hi, Everyone!  It's time for another Friday Funday from Jo's Scrap Shack.  These week we have a color challenge for you: red, white and blue!!
Obviously, these are perfect color for any 4th of July or patriotic cards, you might be making.  I had this beautiful image I wanted to use from A Day For Daisies, so I went more with a summer/friend theme:
Ooo . . . she's just so beautiful, isn't she?!  I added the white polka dots to her bikini to coordinate with the dotted paper.  I made the red and blue roses and added the little white ones; a perfect fit.  The little curly things were made from the the stems of the white flowers.  They have just enough wire in them to keep the shape; that was a fun discovery.  And the little flip flop charm finishes it off.  I hope you get a chance to play along with us; can't wait to see what you come up with.

Supplies:
Stamps: A Day For Daisies "Aloha Blooms"; Cas-ual Fridays "Mon Ami"
Dies: Spellbinders "A2 Matting Basics" rectangle and "Labels One"
Fiskars flower punch for the roses
