Happy Fall

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for another What If? Wednesday challenge from The House That Stamps Built.  This week the theme is pumpkins.  I love fall, and I love pumpkins; I just think they're so cute!  I don't have any Repeat Impressions pumpkin stamps (gasp!  I know!!  It's been remedied now, my new stamps just arrived) so I had to get pretty creative and I used a pumpkin punch.  Anyway, here is my card:
I punched the pumpkins twice, once out of orange card stock and once out of brown for the stems.  I inked them with two shades of  orange ink.
Now it's time to head on over to The House blog and see how the rest of the team has interpreted this challenge.

Fabulous Birthday

If you saw my previous post (here) the background on this card will look slightly familiar. : )  I really liked the look of the butterflies stamped over the musical score, but the orange was just a little too much for what I had in mind for my mother-in-law.  Purple and Green are her go-to colors and she really likes butterflies, so this is much more her style.  I spritzed some glimmer mist over the background and it gives it such a beautiful shimmer.

Celebrating You

Welcome to another What If? Wednesday challenge on The House That Stamps Built blog.  This week we have a color challenge for you:
Now, these are perfect Halloween colors, but since I don't celebrate Halloween, I had to get a bit creative.  It started out as a birthday card for my mother-in-law since she loves butterflies, but the colors just don't work for her, so I'll have to make another one for her.
I started out by stamping the Sheet Music stamp in a light gray.  Then I stamped Butterfly (lg) in purple, lime and orange.  I embossed it with a woodgrain embossing folder, but it kind of obscures the sheet music image.  Bummer!  The sentiment is a sneak peek of our 4th (it's not yet released) new word builder set.  They're all so fun!  You can mix and match with the words and it's easy to create multi-colored sentiments.  The sentiment panel looked a little bare after that, so I partially stamped some orange butterflies and added a few orange pearls.  I can't wait to see what you do with this color combo.  So, head on over to the RI blog and see what the rest of the DT came up with.

Birthday Wishes

Today begins a new challenge on the Love To Scrap Challenge Blog: Ribbon or Lace, Oh My!  So you have to use either ribbon or lace on your creation (and make sure you have some stamping on there).  We have three wonderful sponsors this challenge:

I got to work with this beautiful image from SLS Lines:
I love cats, in fact I have three, and one of them is gray, so this sweet little kitty just caught my eye.  I used both ribbon and lace on my card and even added a few ribbon "tabs" to add a little interest to the right side of the image.  Thanks for stopping by!

Project of The Week

Hi, everyone!  Today is my day to share a Project of The Week on The House That Stamps Built Blog.  Every Monday the member of the DT take turns sharing a different project or technique.  The project I am showing today is a quick and easy gift card holder.  It's super cute and you can dress it up any way you like.  Here's what you'll need to get started:
 -one A2 sized envelope
-colored card stock, 1 piece 3 1/8 x 4 5/8; 2 pieces 2 3/4 x 4 1/4 (1 for the outside; 1 for the inside)
-white card stock, 2 pieces 2 1/2 x 4 (1 outside; 1 inside)
-scrap colored and white card stock for the sentiment
-circle die (I used spellbinders "Classic Circles, Large"--the second smallest one)
-Stamps: Repeat Impressions "Sheet Music", "Butterfly (lg)" and "Happy Hello"
-1 piece of ribbon (mine is 18 inches)
-ink, colored and versamark
-embossing powder and heat tool
-3 pearls
Here we go!  Start by folding the envelope in half with the flap to the inside.  Then cut off the left side of the flap and adhere the right side down.
Adhere one of the 2 3/4 x 4 1/4 card stock pieces to the front of the envelope.  With the center of the ribbon around the fold, adhere the ribbon to both the back of the envelope and the front of the panel.
Adhere the larger card stock piece to the back of the envelope.
I wanted to have the wings of my butterfly hang off the edge of my main panel, so I traced a rectangle 2 1/2 x 4 on my white card stock as a reference point.  If you decorate it some other way, you can just cut it to the measurements.  Then I stamped my sheet music image with gray ink and let it dry (you can see my penciled in rectangle in the photo).
After letting that dry for a couple minutes, I stamped my butterfly and embossed it with gold glittery embossing powder.
I used my craft knife and ruler to cut around the lines of my rectangle, being careful not to cut through the butterfly's wing.  Then I used my scissors to cut around the parts that hang over the edge.
Cut our your sentiment panel, stamp the sentiment and layer it onto colored cardstock.
Adhere the butterfly panel to the front and add the sentiment with pop dots.
Here is the inside showing how the gift card fits perfectly in half of the envelope.  I used my remaining cards stock panels to decorate the inside; which also hides the flap of the envelope that is adhered down.
I added three pearls to the front and voila!  Done.  Add the gift card and use the ribbon to tie a bow to hold it all together.
