A couple days ago, I posted the invitation I created for a bridal shower my sister and I threw for a woman at our church. (You can read that post
here.) This is the invitation:
I'm always doing things at the last minute, and I found myself in need of a card for my shower gift with only a day to go. I didn't have any ideas or much time to spend on it, so I figured I could repurpose one of the invitations. This is how it turned out:
I very carefully removed the main image panel from the background, doing my best not to tear either! I then matted the image panel with some black card stock. I die cut a fancy border die out of the same black and adhered it along with a very narrow strip of gold glitter paper to the already stamped card base. I discovered these beautiful flowers from Petal Lu in my stash; they were perfect! And I didn't have to worry about the bulk as I created a gift basket and just slipped the card in without an envelope. To cover up the sentiment that went with the image, I stamped two more sentiments, cut them into two narrow strips and adhered them with foam tape over the existing sentiment. You can't even tell!
Supplies:
Stamps: SU! "She's all That" image; JustRite Stampers background stamp; PaperTrey Ink "Happily Ever After" sentiments
Dies: STAMPlorations stitched rectangle; PaperTrey Ink border die
Pixie's Crafty Workshop #388--anything goes with snippets (I think this is the ultimate in using snippets, as I took a card apart and reused those pieces! But, also, the die cut border and the strip of gold paper were cut from scraps as were the black mat and the sentiment strips)

Great idea! This turned out so beautifully! The black is a super contrast and your flowers add a soft, feminine touch. The bride is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing this with us at Penny's!

What a good idea to re purpose one of the invitations! The bride to be will be sure to remember the special friend who threw her shower and what she gave her.
