Peace on Earth

Happy Wednesday!  It's time for another challenge from the House That Stamps Built!  This week we have a beautiful inspiration photo to inspire you:
No automatic alt text available.
I've been in a Christmas card making mood lately (or rather, feeling like I need to get some Christmas cards made!), and I love Christmas, so I decided to use mostly the color combo but also a little bit of the scene to create this Christmas card:
I started out by stamping the ornament on a piece of scrap white card stock, then I heat embossed the star with white embossing powder.  I masked the ornament topper and sponged on some inks to create the scene.  I added the rays and little stars with a white gel pen and colored the topper with a silver sharpie, then fussy cut out the entire ornament.  For the card base, I actually started out with a piece of light blue patterned paper as I didn't want to have to sponge the entire panel.  Then I sponged on some teal ink and a little bit of navy.  I decided I wanted to have my ornament hanging from a tree, so I stamped the pine bow image several times in the corner, placed my ornament and added a little hanger and bow out of DMC floss. (As an aside, my girls and I have been working on making friendship bracelets, so several of my boxes of floss were already out, which is what made me think of using it.)  I finished everything off by stamping my sentiment and adding the silver star and a few silver sequins.  It's quite simple, but I am very pleased with how it turned out.
Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will hop over to the House blog to see the rest of the DT's creations and then get inky and play along with us.  And if you need any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your ENTIRE order coupon code over in my left sidebar.

I knew this would say Christmas to you, and what a beautiful job you did. Love the DMC floss for the ornament hanger. We have so much "stuff" that sometimes we forget what we can use in other crafts we made.

What a pretty ornament hanging from the pine bows, Heather! Love the beautifully sponged background, the heat-embossed star, and the hand-drawn rays and little stars. Using the patterned paper as a base and adding sponging is a clever way to create the gorgeous card base. Thank you for sharing this beauty with us at CAS Christmas! Hideko
