Peaceful lake

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built and this week it is a fan favorite: Anything Goes!! And here is the card I created for your inspiration:
I created this beautiful water color card for my husband for Father's Day.  He just got a kayak this spring and has really been enjoying using it on the pond/lake we live on.  I didn't have a kayak image, but I thought the sailboat fit in with the water theme.  I have to say, I love how this turned out!  I used the ART Impressions water color technique to create the scene: coloring on the images with waterbased markers and using water and a paintbrush to turn it into a water colored image.  I used a little bit of color from a palette to create the reflections in the water.  Again, I just love it!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will hop over to the House blog to see the rest of the DT's creations and then get inky and play along with us.  And if you need any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your ENTIRE order coupon code over in my left sidebar.

Just a note

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.
The challenge this time is: Summer fun
And here is my card for your inspiration:
I used these sweet little fairies sitting out on mushrooms reading in the summer sun.  I finished off my little scene by adding some die cut clouds, sun and a little fence.  I glued two layers of both the fence and the clouds together to give them more dimension and allow them to stand out from the background a little bit.  I colored up my image to match this fabulous background paper.  Red, white and blue always say summer to me; I think it's because they are the colors associated with the 4th of July which always signals the start of summer in my book.
I hope you will get a chance to play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.  And make sure you hop over to the Di's Digital Designs blog to see what the rest of the team has made for this challenge.

Happy Moments

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps.  This week we have a beautiful inspiration photo for you:

And here is the card I created:
Several of my teammates also used this swan image and I was going to try to just use the color combo with a different image.  But I just couldn't!!  The swans were just too fabulous and I had to go with them AND the color combo.  I went mostly grays with accents of the peachy/orange and little pops of black!  I started by stamping feathers in a pale gray on the gray card base.  For the vertical rectangle panel, I used the same light gray ink to ink my embossing folder before using it to deboss the panel.  It adds a really soft, subtle textured pattern.  The banner was a little too bright for what I wanted, so I used some white ink and brushed it around the edges to soften the color.  I also brushed white ink onto the die cut flowers (which have been in my bits and pieces stash for around a year).  A little grossgrain ribbon and some peach lace finish everything off perfectly!  With the sentiment and image paired with the soft color combo, this makes an sweet, elegant anniversary card.

Thanks for stopping by!  Make sure you head on over to The House blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done with this photo.  And if you "need" any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your entire order coupon code over in my left sidebar.

A Child is Born

I finally managed to make another Christmas card!  It's been a while, so I'm glad I got the chance to just play and make one.  I was pushed a little by a challenge to create something with your UFO's (unfinished objects).  I've had this adorable image sitting on my desk (colored even) for a loooooong time!  I'd say it's been printed out for several years.  Part of the problem is that I had cut a different image from the same sheet of paper and the cut was too close to this image making it impossible to die cut any shape around it.  So, I finally decided to fussy cut around the image and add it to a die cut circle. I popped it up with foam tape for some added dimension.
The color combo is a little brighter than I would normally use with an image like this, but I do like how it turned out.

Supplies:
Stamps: A Day For Daisies "A Sign I Give" digi; Verve "Richly Blessed" sentiment and "Beyond Measure" greenery (I added three little red nuvo drops to the sprig to look like berries)

Welcome

A little bit ago, I won some stamps from DRS Designs and I picked this sign image as one of them.  I knew it would be perfect for mixing with some ART Impressions stamps and watercolor technique.  And it most definitely IS!  The sign part comes blank so you can add whatever sentiment you choose.
I die cut the image with a stitched rectangle die and matted it with some torn mulberry paper.  I love the softness mulberry paper adds.  I finished it off with a few pale purple sequins.

Let your light shine

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built.  This week we have a fun Tic Tac Toe board for you:

Here is what I created for your inspiration:
I used the first column: tone on tone, sponging, blue or pink.  I started with a very pale gray card stock, masked my rectangle and sponged (actually I used my blender brushes, but that's the new sponging) on the blue rectangle, making it darker around the edges and fading into the center.  Then I stamped the lighthouse and the birds with the same blue ink I used to sponge the rectangle (that's where the tone on tone comes in).  Then I used a very light gray to add the clouds (which is also tone on tone with the gray cardstock).  I die cut three stitched banners and stamped my sentiment on one.  After I adhered the strips in place, the card still needed "something", so I added four blue enamel dots for some more tone on tone.  Very simple, but I think it makes a great masculine card.  I sent it out this morning to an older gentleman at our church for his birthday.

Thanks for stopping by!  Make sure you head on over to The House blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done with this photo.  And if you "need" any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your entire order coupon code over in my lift sidebar.

Dad's tools

My father-in-law is an independent tool distributor and he used to work as a mechanic, so he has a LOT of tools!  So, for his birthday, I made him this toolbox card:
I found the idea on Pinterest and knew it was perfect for him.  He has a black toolbox, so of course, I had to make the card black.  I die cut the tools and added red handles for a pop of color.  I also die cut the letters for "DAD" out of red.  I created a little sign (as if it had been being worked on) that says "Hope your birthday has all the FIXINGS for a great day!"
He LOVED it!!  I think he even said he was going to put it on his desk.  Now, that's a compliment!

Wishing you

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.
The challenge this time is: Fold it Fancy
And here is my card for your inspiration:
I made a fun Double Z-fold card.  I think this is the second one I have ever made; I should do it more often as they are very easy and fun!  I used "Ted in the Rough" and added some bright happy colors to create a masculine birthday card.  I know I never have any of these on hand, so this one is for my stash.  The next photo shows it partially open:
And here it is completely open:
My sentiment reads, "Wishing you . . . the happiest birthday."

I hope you will get a chance to play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.  And make sure you hop over to the Di's Digital Designs blog to see what the rest of the team has made for this challenge.

Journey of Life

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps.  This week is a Designer's Choice Challenge and Laurie has chosen: Tag It!

And here is the card I created:
I made this card for my dad for Father's Day.  He loves motorcycles, so this image is perfect for him.  I stamped the image on the tag; I love how it looks when it is partially stamped like this.  Then I used the same image and stamped it multiple times to create the background panel.  I heat embossed the sentiment in silver on the black panel, used a stencil to create the stripes on the card base, and layered everything together.  I finished off the tag with a piece of black suede lace and some black Nuvo drops.  The sentiment is a little hard to read, it says "The journey of life is made easier by the footprints of a father like you."  Ooo . . . I just really love how this turned out.

Thanks for stopping by!  Make sure you head on over to The House blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done with this photo.  And if you "need" any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your entire order coupon code over in my lift sidebar.

Thanks

Hi, everyone, and welcome to June!!  Yikes, how did it get here already?  Today is my chance to show a Project of the Week for Repeat Impressions and I am continuing on in my "Inspired by Pinterest" series.  I'm hoping to inspire you to take a look at stamps you have and make them work for creating cards like ones that have inspired you.  Here is the card I was inspired by today:
Card
(It only goes to a picture, so I can't give credit where credit is due.)

I love the simplicity of this and the fun text circles.  As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to try it using the "Sheet Music" background stamp and the little flowers from the "Flower Power Background and Borders" collection.
To start, I created a mask by die cutting 3 circles out of a lightweight paper and taping it in place over my card base.
After I took the photo, I ended up transferring the whole thing to my mini MISTI as it can be hard to get a good impressions using a mask and a large background stamp.  Using the MISTI lets you stamp as many times as you need to in order to get a good impression.
I removed the mask and used the "2 inch Circle Silhouette" stamp to add a little bit of color to the circles with a pale amethyst ink.
Then I stamped the "Flower Cluster Detail" image and the "Leaf Cluster Outline" image.  It doesn't look like much yet, but just wait.
I colored the flowers and leaves and then used the same purple markers to scribble an ombre fade unto a piece of scrap card stock before cutting it out with a "thanks" die.
I stamped the sentiment, "I'm so glad . . .", adhered the "thanks" die cut (I glued it to two layers of white card stock cut with the same die before adhering it to the card base), and added a bunch of clear rhinestones.
As you can see, my card is a bit fancier than the inspiration card, but the elements that inspired me are still there.  I hope this inspires you to take a look at your Pinterest boards and find some stamps in your stash that you can use to recreate a card or two.

Supplies:
Stamps: Repeat Impressions "Sheet Music", "Flower Cluster Detail", "Leaf Cluster Outline", and "I'm so glad . . ."
Dies: Spellbinders "Classic Circles, large"; Simon Says Stamp "Painted Thanks"

Monster Hugs

A new month has arrived and that means a new challenge from the Love To Scrap Challenge Blog.  This month's challenge is For the Boys.

And here is the card I created:
I got this sentiment from DRS Designs about a month again with the plan of using it with these monsters from YNS "Silly Monsters".  I love these little monsters and this sentiment is a fun addition to the sentiments that belong to the set.  I had the monster set on my desk from another card I made recently and this masculine challenge was the perfect chance to use it.  I chose some bright, fun paper scraps to create the background and colored the monsters in bright colors to match.  For some extra fun, I added some glossy accents to all of their eyes.  You can see it in the photo below:
I finished it all off with some brightly colored enamel dots.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Head on over to the LTSCB blog to see what the rest of the team has created and to get the full details of the challenge.  Then get inky and play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.

Penguin Anniversary

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.
The challenge this time is: Include a Sentiment
And here is my card for your inspiration:
This sweet little anniversary card is for my sister and her husband who will be celebrating their 12th anniversary this weekend.  For the background I inked the face of an embossing folder before running it through my die cutting machine (with paper in it of course!) to create a fun background.  I don't think I've tried this technique before, and I really like it!  I die cut two borders and a tag out of white card stock.  I added the thin strips of black to cut down the sweetness of all that pink!  I stamped the sentiment and then cut around it, attached it to my image which is popped up on foam tape.
I added clear Wink of Stella and a glitter pen on her veil.  You can see it in the photo below.  I also add some gold glitter marker to the champagne glass and added Glossy Accents over top.
I finished the card off with a sheer ribbon and some pink pearls.  You can also see the texture from the embossing in the photo above.

I hope you will get a chance to play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.  And make sure you hop over to the Di's Digital Designs blog to see what the rest of the team has made for this challenge.

Class of 2020

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps.  This week we have a beautiful inspiration photo for you:
And here is the card I created:
I was inspired by the purple and pinks on the right hand end of the color palette.  The daughter of a good friend is graduating from high school this month, so this is for her.  I started out with a smooshed background on water color paper using purple and pink distress oxides and a bit of water.  Then I sprayed a sparkly, white shimmer spray over the entire background piece.  You can see the shimmer better in the photo below.
After the spray, I added some stars with the same purple distress oxide ink.  I die cut the 2020 from the background and also some dark purple card stock.  I layered them together and placed them back in the negative space using the eclipse technique.  I stamped the "Class of" sentiment on a strip of white card stock and finished everything off with a stamped, fussy cut graduation cap.  You can't really see it, but I added some gold sparkle to the tassel with a Spectrum Noir glitter pen.

Thanks for stopping by!  Make sure you head on over to The House blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done with this photo.  And if you "need" any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your entire order coupon code over in my lift sidebar.
