Sparkly Christmas

Good morning!  It's time for me to share my Pick of the Week on the House That Stamps Built blog.  I'm continuing on in my Pinterest Inspired Series.  This is the card I decided to CAS(E):

Isn't it so fun!!  I had originally thought to recreate it with the butterfly, but I decided I wanted to turn it into a Christmas card.  This is what I came up with:
I started with the text.  Since I don't have an RI stamp with just a strip of text, I had to do a little masking on the "Postcard" stamp. I lined it up using my mini MISTI and then placed masking tape over the card base leaving just a strip open for the stamping.  I embossed an intertwined circle to mimic the stitched circle on the original.  I die cut some berry sprigs out of white card stock and layered them with a very pale blue sheer ribbon.  I die cut a snowflake out of silver glitter paper and placed it over a vellum circle to help it stand out from the other elements a bit.  I needed a little something to cover the center of the snowflake where you could see a little bit of the adhesive from the other elements, so I die cut a heart out of red glittery paper.  I think it turned out quite cute and elegant.  I know it doesn't show off a lot of stamping, but I wanted to show (again) how you can "alter" your stamps to make them do what you want.  I hope it inspires you to look at your own stamps and see how you can rethink them.
Thanks for stopping by.

Supplies:
Stamps: Repeat Impressions "Postcard"
Dies: Memory Box "Lindeman" snowflake; Elizabeth Craft berry sprigs and "Intertwined Circles"

Very Merry Christmas

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.

The challenge this time is: Use a digi (this is a nice easy one)
And here is my card for your inspiration:

This little cutie mouse is one of my favorite images from Di's Digi Stamps!  I printed him out, colored him up and fussy cut him out.  I found some matching papers and a coordinating card stock to fit an MFT sketch.  I heat embossed the sentiment on the red cardstock with gold embossing powder.  Then I finished everything off with some red pearls.  Other than the coloring, this was pretty quick and easy to create.

I hope you will get a chance to play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.  And make sure you hop over to the Di's Digital Designs blog to see what the rest of the team has made for this challenge.

Black and White Christmas

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps.  This week is fun one and open to so many options: Black and White + One other color

And here is the card I created:
This was another super quick card.  It seems I've been trying to make a lot of those lately.  I should learn to manage my time better!  Anyway, I chose Black, White and Red for my color combo.  I always think it is so elegant and perfect for so many occasions.  I decided to make a Christmas card, since that time is coming super quickly!  I die cut the white panel with a stitched rectangle die and then stamped the flower background stamp in black.  I die cut the "Merry Christmas" sentiment out of red glitter paper.  I also die cut it out of red card stock 2 times and adhered all three together.  I had a little oops with my stamping so I had a bit of double stamping going on.  I covered most of it up with the sentiment and then added some white flowers (that I thought resembled poinsettias) to help hide some more of it.  I finished everything off with some red pearls and adhered it all to a red card base.  And that is that!

Rustic Christmas

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps.  This week is a simple but fun one: Add a border

And here is the card I created:
I found a sketch I really liked and was perfect for adding borders and I decided I really wanted to use the pine bough border stamp.  So, I went looking for some paper(s) that would go with it and found this rather rustic looking tree paper.  I stamped the image on kraft card stock with a light ink and "colored" (in the very loosest sense of the word) the pinecones in with a dark brown marker.  Then I restamped the image with versamark ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.  To add to the gold accents, I placed two very thin strips of gold glitter cardstock along the edges of the border panel and used the same gold card stock to die cut the sentiment and create a mat layer for the kraft snowflake ribbon.  For the sentiment, I die cut it once out of the gold glitter card stock and 3 times out of a scrap of kraft colored card stock.  I adhered them all together for some dimension and to help it stand out for the rather busy background.  In the photo below you can see all the sparkle and shine and the fabulous dimension on the sentiment!!

Teen Time

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.

The challenge this time is: Lots of Layers
And here are my cards for your inspiration:

My two babies just turned 13!!  I usually make them each different cards tailored to their interests/likes.  But with time being short and needing to create a card as inspiration for this challenge, I decided to make them very similar cards, personalized with their favorite colors.  The older twin's favorite color is blue and the younger one's favorite is purple, but also likes a lot of black.  I wanted them to be even more different, so I flipped one of the images (that is about the extent of my digital image editing abilities) and printed it out as a mirror image of the other.  Then, I printed the images out on coordinating patterned papers and paper pieced their sweet dresses and bows.  The card bases and matting layers are made out of a soft gray card stock.  Of course, I had to add some sparkle, so I die cut "13s" out of silver glitter card stock.
Right now, this sweet image is on sale!  So, if you want it, go get it now!!

I hope you will get a chance to play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.  And make sure you hop over to the Di's Digital Designs blog to see what the rest of the team has made for this challenge.

So glad

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps.  This week is a favorite for me: Use Up Your Fall Scraps!

And here is the card I created:
If you have visited my blog much at all, you probably know that using up scraps is perhaps my favorite thing to do while card making!!  There's something so satisfying about using something left over from something else.  My card today is quite similar to last weeks as I still had the same elements sitting on my desk.  I started with my tag.  Die cut the tag shape out of ugly scrap card stock (you know, the thin flimsy stuff in rather hideous colors that you got for a really good price and now you know why!), add adhesive and adhere the strips of scrap patterned paper to the tag.  Mine were already cut to these heights, I just had to trim off the width that overhung the tag edges.  The pumpkin (to which I added a little shading with markers), the little greenery sprigs and the die cut leaves were in my bits and pieces stash from a project I made with some Sunday School kids at church probably 3 years ago.  I have a TON of the "thanks" die cuts in my bits an pieces stash.  I have a ton because I was planning to use them on Thanksgiving place settings last year and then ended up receiving a different die at the last minute that I wanted to use instead.  The red paper was also a scrap, I just trimmed it to the correct height and the sentiment strip was die cut from a piece of scrap card stock.  The twine, sequins and card base were the only items not left over from something else!

Thanks for stopping by!  Make sure you head on over to The House blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done with this challenge.  And if you "need" any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your entire order coupon code over in my lift sidebar.

Fall Hello

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps.  This week the challenge is "Thankful for Fall".  You can use a fall theme, thanks, Thanksgiving, or something else related to the thankful or fall.  So fun!!

And here is the card I created:
As so often happens with me, I started my card with a sketch (see the challenges below) and then went about making it happen.  I used a bunch of scraps from a fall-themed paper pack.  One little strip down the side and the tag was made with a bunch of already cut strips.  I love making tags with this technique; so fun!!  I started by stamping the fern image with a caramel ink on kraft card stock.  Then I pieced my tag together and die cut it.  I stamped, colored and fussy cut the pumpkin and adhered it to the tag with some dimension.  I stuck some some die cut sprigs behind it that had been in my bits and pieces stash for a while.  I stamped and die cut the sentiment with a circle die and finished the card off with a bit of twine and some gold sequins.

Thanks for stopping by!  Make sure you head on over to The House blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done with this challenge.  And if you "need" any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your entire order coupon code over in my lift sidebar.

Sorry I forgot

A new month has arrived and that means a new challenge from the Love To Scrap Challenge Blog.  This month's challenge is Anything Goes.

And here is the card I created:
I'm still working on finishing up a collection of One-Sheet Wonder cards (you may have seen some of them the last couple months (it's taking me a while).  Though I love these little elephants so much that I might just have to do another batch using them.  This card was for my sister-in-law, and unfortunately I was a little late . . . maybe a little bit more than a little late.  So, I had to include a "belated birthday" message on the inside with, of course, another one of those cutie elephants to soften the blow.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Head on over to the LTSCB blog to see what the rest of the team has created and to get the full details of the challenge.  Then get inky and play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.
