Jesus

Happy December!!  Can you believe it's here already!?  I have sad news today  This will be the last challenge from Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra.  :(   Our fearless leader, Hazel, has decided to close the challenge.  : (   But, let's not think about that right now.  Instead, let's think about the current challenge.  As always, it's anything Christmas-related goes.  And now that the Christmas season is truly upon us, I'm sure there are plenty of us that still need some Christmas cards!  I know I do!!  I checked a little bit ago and realized I was quite a few short.  So, here is my card for your inspiration:
I started off with a fun technique I just discovered.  It's sort of a letterpress technique, created by inking the raised side (back side) of an embossing folder and using it to deboss the image with the ink.  It's quite fun and very easy!  Then I used a stitched rectangle die to cut it down to a little bit smaller than the card base.
I hope you will play along with us this month, let's make this the best challenge ever!!

Supplies:
Stamps: Bugaboo Stamps "AKV: Mary and Child", which I think must be retired; Verve "Richly Blessed" sentiment; Repeat Impressions "Star Cluster"
Dies; Papertrey Ink "Inspired: Jesus" and "Mat Stack 3"; MFT "Blueprints 13" stitched rectangle; Spellbinders "A2 Matting Basics A" rectangle and pinked edge border die

Warm and Wonderful

Happy Wednesday!!  Can you believe tomorrow is the last day of November?!  I checked my Christmas card stash and realized I need quite a few more, so now every card I make needs to be a Christmas card!  Luckily, The House That Stamps Built has a great sketch challenge starting today and it was perfect for a Christmas card!!
No automatic alt text available.
Isn't that fun!?  I love sketches; they are great starting points for cards.  Here is the card I created:
Besides needing to make Christmas cards, I also have a "bits and pieces" stash that is growing and I need to work on making it smaller instead.  So, I searched through the stash and pulled out anything I thought would work.  I ended up using the large snowflake, the speech bubble and one of the pieces of fencing.  Yeay, three pieces used.  I wasn't sure about the speech bubble, but then I decided to use the snowman and it worked perfectly AND adds a fun touch.  This snowman is just super cute!  He's part of a swing set but I only used the one image as well as two parts of the sentiment that are included in the set.  I paper pieced his scarf and used the same paper for the little banner at the top.  I finished it all off with a recycled button and some nuvo crystal drops for snow on the image.

Supplies:
Stamps: Repeat Impressions "Snowman 2-sided Swing Stamp Set" I used the entire side 2 of the set as well as the second part of the sentiment from side 1 and "Snowflake Solid, small"
Dies: PTI "Fancy Flakes"; Sweet n' Sassy Stamps fence; MFT "Smartphone" speech bubble

Christmas tags

I don't necessarily procrastinate, but I always seem to be finishing things up just in the nick of time.  I think it's because I have a lot of things to do (like all of us) and start with what needs to be done NOW and then work on the next things.  Case in point, I usually end up wrapping Christmas presents on Christmas Eve.  Well, this year I already have several gifts wrapped.  It's because my brother and his family live 14+ hours away and my sister was going out to visit him over Thanksgiving.  So, rather than have to pay the shipping to send gifts out to them, I sent them with my sister which meant I had to have them AND have them wrapped!  Good thing my sister does things way ahead  of time and got me into it this year.  Anyway, I made these tags to go on their gifts.
I used the same dies for the tag shape then varied the stamps I used on them.  The first ones are my favorite snowmen for my favorite niece (and I can say that since she's the only one!)
I used my mini MISTI to make all of these and it was so much easier and faster!  I stamped the tag itself with red and then added the snowman in the circle; just the perfect size!  I paper pieced their hats and scarves with some scraps.  It just really adds to their cuteness.  The next tags are for my first nephew and I used these super cute little reindeer.
I stamped his tags in green and then added the reindeer inside the circles.  Next up it the tag for the littlest guy (he's not quite one yet).
I stamped his tag in green; keeping the boys' tags color coordinated.  I stamped the present in the circle and colored it up, adding white dots to the bow with a gel pen.  And last, but not least, the Mama's tag.
I wanted her's to be a little bit more elegant, so I used a damask stamp on the tag base and added a glittery, green, die cut snowflake on top instead of adding a stamped image.  All of the tags match the colors in the wrapping paper and bows I used, so I look like I've got it all together!  No one will ever know that I didn't get the tags made and on the packages until only a couple hours before my sister came to pick the gifts up.  : )

Merry and Bright

I just recently checked my Christmas card stash and realized I need quite a few more.  I loved the sketch at Stick It Down and thought it would be perfect for a Christmas card.  This is what I created:
I created the top by stamping a collection of snowflakes with red ink on a cream cardstock.  The colors match the patterned paper on the bottom perfectly!  Nice and simple and pretty quick to put together.

Santa's Helper

Happy Friday!!  It's time for another challenge from Jo's Scrap Shack.  As always, we are now an Anything Goes challenge and our sponsor this week is The Paper Shelter.

I was given this super cute image to work with:
I had the idea of having her peeking out from the side of the card and then totally forgot when it came time to cut out the image.  But it would have lots most her sack, so I think it's probably better this way.  It was such a detailed image to color that I wanted to keep the rest of the card rather CAS.  So I added a scrap of paper down the side and die cut a pinked edge strip to separate it from the image panel.  Added a glittery snowflake, button and a die cut sentiment and she's finished!
Oh yeah, I forgot, I used a fine tip glue and SU! Dazzling Diamonds glitter to add sparkle to the snow parts of the image.  Gotta love the sparkle!  Thanks for stopping by, I hope you will get a chance to play along with us this week.  I'm expecting to see lots of Christmas projects!  : )

I ate him!

Happy Wednesday!  And Happy Thanksgiving (for those of us in the U.S.), tomorrow!  Today starts another challenge from The House That Stamps Built.  It is Anything Goes, and we know how much you all love that.   I was in need of a masculine birthday card, so I turned to a new swing stamp set I got a couple months ago and hadn't used yet.  I followed this tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers to create this fun swing card.

I just love the sentiment that goes along with it in the inside!  That cat looks like he is soooo proud of himself.  I added a blank die cut panel to the inside so I would have a place to write the greeting.
Isn't it fun?!    I hope you will play along with us this week.  And if you need this stamp set (or any from Repeat Impressions for that matter), make sure you check out the coupon code in my left sidebar.

Sweet Friends

It's Saturday and it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.  This time it is: Things with Wings, Tails, and/or Feathers.  How fun (and easy) is that?!  Here is my card for your inspiration:
All Di's images are so adorable, and I just love this one.  I just discovered that I am a little behind on my Christmas cards, so from now on, I am going to be featuring as many of them as possible!  For a little extra fun, I decided to crop the images.  I printed out two of the images so I could cut the little girl out of one and the sweet little penguin out of the second.  I die cut the snowflakes out of a holographic glitter card stock.  You can see the sparkle in the photo below.
I hope you will get a chance to play along with us.  I can't wait to see what you create!

Sparkly Christmas

Happy Wednesday!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built.  This week we have a gorgeous inspiration photo for you:
Image may contain: 1 person
Don't you just love those colors?  And all those adorable little ornaments?  Of course, I HAD to make a Christmas card.  This is what I came up with:
I started by die cutting the white panel, then I used the same die to cut out the circles from brown/bronze, gold, and pale pink glitter paper .  I heat embossed the sentiment with some really sparkly old embossing powder and then adhered the white panel to the dark pink background.  Then I adhered random circles back into the openings for a fun confetti look.  I finished everything off with a bit of ribbon that's been hanging around for a long time!  This next photo shows all the sparkly goodness of this card.
I hope you will play along with us.  Remember that you now have the entire month to play along with the challenges.  I can't wait to see how this picture inspires you.

Sparkle

Here it is the middle of the month and that means it's time for some mid-month inspiration from Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra.  You still have the rest of the month to play along with us and as always our wonderful sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps.
Here is my card for your inspiration:
Oh, I love how this one turned out!!  I had cut out all of these circles (with a die!) for a project I will be showing tomorrow and decided it would be fun to use them to create a fun, sparkly card!  I used the negative die cut panel to lay out the circles before I adhered them.  It is so sparkly and gorgeous in real life!  This next picture shows all the sparkle from the glitter paper.   Love it!
Thanks for stopping by, I can't wait to see what you create!

Christmas box

Happy Friday!!  It's time for another challenge from Jo's Scrap Shack.  As always, we are now an Anything Goes challenge and our sponsor for the week is The Cutting Cafe.

I was given the Round Box Template to work with.  It comes with the main box template, but also includes options for a taller box, a taller lid, a solid top and a top with a window.  So many options!  Here is what I created:
I used the standard size box, the larger lid (though now that I'm thinking about it, that is probably really to be used with the taller box, but it worked for me.) with the window option.   I stamped a strip of white paper with the snowflakes and adhered the strip to the sides of the box before assembling everything.
Since the lid comes down almost all the way to the bottom of the box, I didn't bother decorating the sides of the box, just the lid.  I finished off the top edges of the lid with some ribbon I had sitting on my desk.  I've had it forever, and finally managed to use it up!!  (I also used the last bit to tie a bow for the top.)  This box is surprisingly big.  My sister and I went shopping at an Outlet Mall on Monday and of course, we had to get some chocolate truffles at Lindt.  So, when I was looking for something to fill my box with, I thought of the truffles.  I think this box would fit 10 of them just about perfectly.  I had 7 (ate the other 3 already!) and there is plenty of room left.
I think it would also be perfect for a small gift, maybe jewelry?  For the lid with the window, I used a piece of acetate recycled from some stamp packaging.  It allows you to peak inside to see the yummy treats.  But I think the box would be equally cute with a solid top.  I wanted to create a wreath-like look to the top of my box, so I added stamped and die cut snowflakes that match the ones I stamped on the sides of the lid.  Added a bow and some rhinestones and it's finished!

Give Thanks

Happy Wednesday!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built.  This week we have a fun Tic-Tac-Toe challenge for you:
No automatic alt text available.
I have to say that I think these are my favorite types of challenge because there are so many options!  I used the middle column (autumn colors, stitching: faux, and buttons.  I also used leaves, twine and thanks)
I almost always use a sketch for my cards, but this one came together in my head and I really like how it turned out.  The ribbon, which is really more of an olive green though it looks kind of like gray, was what I started with as it was on my desk and I have had it for a really long time.  The kraft layer was cut out with a stitched die and then I stamped the leaf image repeatedly around the edge (as I knew the center would  be covered up.  On the focal panel, I stamped the music background with Creamy Caramel.  It didn't stamp evenly, but that kind of added to the more rustic look I was going for.  Then I inked the leaf with yellow and sponged orange around the edges before stamping it.  I inked the edges of the panel with the Creamy Caramel and distressed them with my scissors.  I die cute the "thanks" twice and layered them together.  Before I adhered them to the card, I stamped the word give and then adhered the "thanks".  I added the ribbon and then checked the tic-tac-toe board and realized I needed to add a button.  Luckily, I had a good place for it!  The torn mulberry paper adds a soft touch and finishes it all off.
I hope you will play along with us this week; I'm looking forward to seeing what you create using our board.

Penguin Wedding

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.
The challenge this time is: Monochrome
And here is my card for your inspiration:
My husband's cousin is getting married at the beginning of January, so I decided to actually get ahead and make a card for her.  I was going to do a completely black and white card, but just couldn't used black flowers in the image and using all white would have been rather boring.  So, I decided to go with pink (and a little black because penguins are black and it's a neutral like white).  I printed out two images and a third one of the veil on vellum.  I colored the main image, then colored the top hat, bouquet, and flower headpiece on the second image.  I cut out the pieces from the second image and the veil from the vellum and adhered them onto the main image for a little bit of dimension and fun.  Since I had pearls sewn onto my veil, I added some liquid pearls to the little Mrs.' veil.  You can't see it in the photo, but I added clear Wink of Stella to the champagne glass.   My ribbon was recycled from who knows what, but it worked perfectly
I hope you get a chance to play along with us; I can't wait to see what you come up with.  Monochromatic can be hard, but it can be done!  Thanks for stopping by!

Two holiday cards

Happy Friday!!  It's time for another challenge from Jo's Scrap Shack.  As always, we are now an Anything Goes challenge.
Our sponsors this week the fabulous Bugaboo Stamps:

and
Sunny Studio Stamps

This is not my normal week to post a card for Jo's challenge, but there was some miscommunication a little while ago and I ended up with these adorable Bugaboo images that didn't get used.  So, rather than take advantage of Jody's generosity, I created two cards to go along with the challenge.  Now, the images I received are actually Halloween images, but since I don't celebrate Halloween, I got creative and turned them into something I can use.  My first card uses the sweet little kitty and by using Christmas colors, I changed him into an Elf kitten.  Doesn't he look like he would be a great help at Christmas time?
One of my children commented that it looked like a Santa cat, so I guess I did my job well!  For some extra fun, I created a shaker card with a new cover plate die I just received.
My second card uses an adorable stack of jack-o-lanterns.  I love pumpkins (and everything fall for that matter) and these are cute not scary, so I turned them into a fall card.
I can never get dark brown to photograph well, but the strip of ribbon is dark brown, not black.  I used some copper DMC floss to stitch around the pumpkin patterned paper layer, and used the same floss to criss-cross the ribbon for a fun touch.  The sentiment is a bit hard to make out.  It says "Happy Fall: thinking of you this autumn and always".  Sweet, huh?
I hope you will play along with us this week, I always love being inspired by what you create!  Thanks for stopping by!
