With Sympathy

Happy Friday!!!  It's time for a new challenge from the Cut It Up Challenge Blog.  This week, the challenge is: So Sorry

Here is my card for your inspiration:
The sister of one of the elderly ladies at our church passed away recently, so a sympathy card was in order--perfect timing with this challenge!  Sympathy cards are always a bit of challenge for me.  I want to keep them rather simple, but elegant and tasteful at the same time.  I started out by stamping my card panel with a crocheted background stamp with white craft ink.  I had to stamp it multiple times and it is still hard to see since the card stock is such a light color, but it does give a very subtle texture to the background; you can see it a bit in the picture below.

Then I die cut and stamped the images.  Layering stamps are sooooo gorgeous, but also such a challenge for me.  I struggle with getting them lined up correctly, although I think I did a fairly good job with this set this time.  I also die cut and stamped the sentiment and the added everything to the card, finishing by popping the sentiment up with foam tape and adding some peach colored pearls that I have had in my stash forever!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you will hop over to the Cut It Up blog for the full details of the challenge and to see what the rest of the Design Team has created.

Supplies:
Stamps: Altenew "Rosy Lookout" roses; Papertrey Ink "Boutique Borders: Sympathy"; Our Daily Bread "Crocheted" background
Dies: Altenew "Rosy Lookout"; Papertrey Ink "Boutique Borders: Sympathy"

Challenges:
Word Art Wednesday #697--anything goes with uplifting sentiment
Penny's Challenge #595--anything goes

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday--anything goes
Lil' Red Wagon #805--use that stash (I have had the sentiment stamp and die set for many years and the flower set at least 2 1/2 years.  And the pearls have been in my stash forever!)
Cards Galore #135--anything goes
Crafter's Cafe #318--anything goes with the optional twist: feminine
If You Give a Crafter a Cookie #204--inspiration photo (inspired by flowers)

Beautiful Blossoms #28--anything goes with optional mood board

Word Power--anything goes with sentiment as focus
Not 2 Shabby--color combo or mood board (I was inspired by the piece of yellow paper with the peach flowers)

This is so soft and pretty. Sympathy cards are definitely not the easiest type of card to create! Thanks for sharing with us at both Atlantic Hearts and Beautiful Blossoms :)

Layering stamps really challenge me, and so do sympathy cards. But you knocked both out of the park with this warm and lovely card. Thank you for joining the challenge at Atlantic Hearts.
