Happy Friday!!! It's time for a new challenge from the Cut It Up Challenge Blog. This week, the challenge is: Something New
Here is my card for your inspiration:
I'm still working on recycling some sample commercial Christmas cards. This one had a soft, peaceful scene; I really love the soft colors, they seem very serene. I die cut the image using a brand new die set that I just got from Amazon. I had a gift card left from my birthday, so I decided to buy myself some new beauty products and, or course, some crafty goodies. The ribbon and the snowflakes were in my bits and pieces stash. I'm going to try to be better about consciously using that up this year. I added some clear gems and it was done! I actually even stamped a sentiment on the inside so it is ready to go come Christmas time. Usually I leave it blank and then it is just one more hurdle to overcome when thinking about sending cards out. Maybe that will be another one of my goals this year: inside sentiments stamped at the time of the card being made. Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you will hop over to the Cut It Up blog for the full details of the challenge and to see what the rest of the Design Team has created.
Supplies:
Dies: Unbranded die; MFT "Blueprints 13" stitched rectangle
Martha Stewart snowflake punch
Challenges:
Pixie's Snippets Playground #497--anything goes with snippets (the ribbon and snowflakes were in my bits and pieces stash, the mat behind the image was cut from a scrap, and recycling a card seems like the ultimate snippets use!)
Die Cut Divas--new (the die set is new)
Creative Inspirations--something old/something new (the die set is new and the snowflakes have been in my stash for 3 or 4 years--I've had the punch for probably 12+ years)
Craft Rockets #129--something new (the die set)
Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 #294--sketch
Jingle Belles Rock--something old, something new (the die set is new and the snowflakes have been in my stash for 3 or 4 years--I've had the punch for probably 12+ years)
Sweet Stampin'--new (die set)
NBUS--never before used schtuff (the die set)
Creatalicious #284--anything goes with the optional twist: Christmas or New Year
Beautiful card, love how you upcycled a commercial card! Thanks for sharing and inspiring, maybe I will give this a try soon.

Hi Heather, happy New Year. I love your card, this image is so relaxing and the reuse of a commercial card is brilliant. I also recycled card and embellishments from our Christmas crackers, I think you call them Bon Bons in the US. Great card as always and thanks so much for sharing it with us over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 and good luck.

How clever and responsible you are, Heather! I am always getting Christmas cards from charities and use them for card protectors, but I love your idea of upcycling them and I love how you have made this into a custom and beautiful design! Thank you for this idea and inspiring everyone to use their NBUS! Happy New Year Hugs, Darnell

Such a lovely image and I love your serene colours. I have to agree about stamping the sentiment as you go it certainly saves what can feel like a chore later.
