A little argyle

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built and this week it is a fan favorite: Anything Goes!! And here is the card I created for your inspiration:

In need of a masculine birthday card, I decided to have a little fun with the "2in Diamond Silhouette" and a ruler.   I created my own argyle pattern with the diamond image.  I stamped them in a row, using my mini MISTI to stamp them as many times as needed to get a nice full impression.  Then I used my ruler and a red sharpie to add the details.  Then I die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle and stamped the sentiment.  I finished it off with a ribbon from my stash and added a star brad for just a little bling.  Mounted it on a red card base and called it done.
Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will hop over to the House blog to see the rest of the DT's creations and then get inky and play along with us.  And if you need any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your ENTIRE order coupon code over in my left sidebar.

Supplies:
Stamps: Repeat Impressions "2in. Diamond Silhouette" and "Birthday"
Dis: MFT "Blueprints 13" stitched rectangle

Flower birthday

This is a card I made a couple weeks ago for a woman at our church.  I had the flower panel sitting in my "this didn't work on the card I had planned" pile.  It's a little tiny bit blurry as I stamped it colored it and tried to restamp it again with my mini MISTI.  Unfortunately, I had trimmed the bottom of the panel already and the stamp didn't line up anymore.  I thought I had aligned it perfectly, but I guess I was off a little tiny bit.  It didn't work for the card I was making at the time, but it does have a little bit of an artsy vibe, so I knew it could be used at a different time.  This was that time.

A little patterned paper, scalloped die cut, a bit of ribbon and a sentiment finished it off perfectly!

Stamps: MFT "Flowers in Bloom" and "Essential Sentiments"
Dies: MFT "Stitched Scalloped border"

Oh Boy!

I made these a while back and haven't had a chance to post them.  It was for a bridal shower for a woman at our church.  These are the invitations; they were all the same style, but I had 4 different patterned papers.  I pulled out an OLD SU! called "By Ones and Twos" that I got when I was pregnant with my twins 12 years ago!  It has a lot of twin themed sentiments, but it also has this adorable onsie which you can personalize with several different little baby related icons.  I chose to just use the onsie outline and I stamped it on the same paper as the base of each card.  I started by stamping the image directly onto the white panel so I would have the clothes hanger portion, then I stamped and fussy cut the image from the patterned paper and adhered it over the image on the panel.  It worked out perfectly.  Then I added a sweet little boy sentiment underneath.

Here is a closer look at each one.  The first one is my favorite, I think.  I love the pattern and the colors.  For each invitation, I also stamped the envelope with a fun baby boy themed image from another really old SU! set.

On this one, I ended up stamping the onsie on the paper in the opposite direction of how it is oriented on the background; I think it adds a fun look.
This is another fun design, just with different colors from the one that is my favorite.  You can really see the nice piercing detail on the white panel.
And the last one uses a fun paper that has a lot of sentiments that are little boy related.  Another super cute one.
The last picture shows the little cupcake toppers I made for the cupcakes.  Really easy but super cute.  My sister die cut the stars for me and then I stamped them with the sentiment.  It needed a little something else and I was looking at adding a copper glittery star on it somehow when my sister pointed out it would be really cute to put a tiny one in the center of the "O".  She was absolutely right and the little copper glittery star was the perfect embellishment!  Then we hot glued them to popsicle sticks and stuck them in the cupcakes.

Milk and cookies

So, all month I've been working on creating my Valentine's Day cards using a one-sheet wonder template.  You can see my other cards, here, here, and here.  These are my last two.  (I think there is supposed to be one more, but somehow I lost the last piece of patterned paper.)

The first one is for my niece: she's 8.
I covered the little die cut hearts with glossy accents for a nice shine.  You can see it in the photo below:
The second card is for one of her brothers: he's 6
I created the background by stamping the little cookie image and the word "cookies" with red ink to create a subtle pattern.    I also added glossy accents to the heart on this one.
I curved the main part of the sentiment for a fun touch.  Also, I didn't have to find a separate place for it that way.

CARD #1:
Supplies:
Stamps: Sugar Pea Designs "Better Together" (unfortunately it seems to be retired)
Dies: MFT "Blueprints 14" banner and "Smartphone" small heart; Sweet n Sassy Stamps larger heart

Because I care

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built and the theme this week is: Get Well.
And here is the card I created for your inspiration:
A woman at our church fell two weeks ago on her way home from church in a snow storm and ended up breaking her ankle and fracturing her knee.  So, this challenge was the perfect time for me to create a Get Well card for her.  I only have two get well sentiments from Repeat Impressions and both of them have a play on words that goes with an animal image.  They are really fabulous, but I didn't think either would work for this woman in this situation.  So, I looked through my sentiments and found this one that says "Just because I care".  Even though it doesn't say "get well" I thought it would work for a get well card.
I think I have only used this butterfly die once before, but after using it on this card, I think it might make some repeat appearances--it's so pretty!!  To keep the bottom half of that panel from looking so plain, I masked off the die cut corner and then used the "Postcard" image and light gray ink to add some subtle interest.  I stamped the butterfly image, colored it and fussy cut it out and then layered it on some mulberry paper for some soft texture.  I added some sheer ribbon and some pearls to finish it all off.  I did also add some sparkle to the butterfly with a Spectrum Noir glitter pen, but forgot to take a photo of it and this card is already in the mail!
Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will hop over to the House blog to see the rest of the DT's creations and then get inky and play along with us.  And if you need any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your ENTIRE order coupon code over in my left sidebar.

We go together

I have finished a few more of my Valentine one-sheet wonder cards.  To see some of the others, you can see this post and this post.  I've been having lots of fun with this technique and this adorable stamp set.  I think I have three pieces of the sheet left--so three more cards.

This first one is my favorite of today's post.  These little peanut butter and jelly images are the cutest.

This second card is for my middle daughter.  She saw me making cards and thought I should add a little monkey to some of them (she loves monkeys and has a bunch of monkey stuffed animals).  So, I made this card for her and added a little monkey hanging out with the peanut butter and jelly.  Oh, he's so cute!
I decided to have a little fun with this third card and had the peanut butter and jelly playing around; making a tower.
The last one is a mini slimline card.  It is the same width as a slimline card, but a bit shorter to fit the sketch (and piece of patterned paper) better.
And here is the inside where I finished the sentiment from the outside:

CARD #1:
Supplies:
Stamps: Sugar Pea Designs "Better Together"
Dies: Spellbinders "Classic Ovals, large"; MFT "Stitched Scalloped Trio" border and "Smartphone" larger heart; Verve "Scalloped Trim Trio" small hearts left over from the border die

Creative Knockouts #388--love/Valentine's

CARD #2:
Stamps: Sugar Pea Designs "Better Together" and "Chunky Monkey"
Dies: Spellbinders scalloped, heart border die (the heart embellishments are the negatives from the border die and I covered them with gray nuvo drops to give them some dimension)

Challenges:
Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper--anything goes with patterned paper
Sheepski Designs #47--romance and/or use red
Creative Inspirations--animal antics
Crafty Friends #149--animals/birds
Cuttlebug Mania--put an animal on it

As You Like It--what is your favorite: clear, rubber, or digi (I definitely prefer clear because they take up less space than rubber and I like the fact that you can see where you are stamping.  I'm not a hug fan of digis because it takes a lot more forethought to find the image, size it and print it.  Also, I can stamp on scraps, but can't do that with digis)
Sweet Stampin'--cards for teens/kids

CARD #3:
Stamps: Sugar Pea Designs "Better Together"
Dies: Verve "Scalloped Trim Trio" hearts are leftover from die cutting the border from another card then I coated them with nuvo drops for shine and dimension

Heart beat

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built and this week it is a theme challenge: LOVE! It is perfect for this Valentine's Day week.  And here is the card I created for your inspiration:

I created a super CAS card.  I'm still not 100% sure I like it--I am definitely one who likes a bit of layering and embellishing.  But I also, kind of love it!  I started by stamping the heart from the Love Stencil image with red ink and then stamped the "love" part of the image underneath with black ink (I admit, I cut this stamp apart so I could use the heart and the word separately and use them just like this).  Then, I hand drew the heartbeat element.  Don't get scared now, it was really easy!  I drew a light pencil line horizontally across the heart, then traced the beginning and end of the line with a black fine-line pen.  Then I drew random, jagged lines in between, making sure they connected to both endpoints.  I really wanted to add some embellishments to it, but nothing seemed right.  So, in the end, I left it as it is, and I think it's better this way.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will hop over to the House blog to see the rest of the DT's creations and then get inky and play along with us.  And if you need any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your ENTIRE order coupon code over in my left sidebar.

I mean it!

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.
The challenge this time is: 1 or more hearts
And here is my card for your inspiration:
This little bunny is so sweet!  I usually color her up in gray, but today I decided to color her white; so cute!  I die cut a little fence to add to the scene.  Then I added some die cut hearts that were leftovers from a border die I cut.  It didn't end up working out on this card, but the little hearts were perfect embellishments.  I added some pink Nuvo drops on top of the hearts, so now they look like enamel hearts.  I think I will be doing more of this in the future.
I hope you will get a chance to play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.  And make sure you hop over to the Di's Digital Designs blog to see what the rest of the team has made for this challenge.

One Sheet Wonder Valentine's Cards

So, last month, I created a set of Christmas card using a one-sheet wonder template.  You can see those cards here is you so desire.  It was so much fun, and such a great way to use up an entire sheet of 12 x 12 paper, that I decided to do a Valentine's Day set this month:  I posted my first card at the beginning of the week.  Here are my next 5 (I have 6 left to go):

Obviously, I used the same patterned paper for all of them (all from one sheet) and images from the same sugar Pea Designs set.  I added some different black accents to most of them.  The first card uses some black pearls as well as a black die cut "love" that was a leftover from some bridal shower cupcake toppers I made a while ago.  Both the "love" and the gold glitter heart were from the shower.  I die cut a tag and a little bow and added some ribbon to finish everything off.

Card #2 uses a different set of images from the same stamp set.  This time I heat embossed the sentiments with white embossing powder on black card stock.  I added some die cut hearts that I covered with glossy accents and used them as embellishments.
Card #3 is my Valentine's Day card for my hubby!  I love the sentiment paired with this cute little peanut butter and jelly couple!  It's so fun and sweet.  And my husband still loves peanut butter and jelly (specially strawberry), so this is perfect.  I did a little stenciling with a sun ray stencil and added some more glossy accents covered hearts as embellishments.
For Card #4 I actually cut one of the strips from the template into smaller strips to go down the side of the card.
Card #5 is probably my favorite of the bunch.  I used an embossing folder for the background and I just love the texture it gives.  I added a die cut border and used some of the little leftover heart pieces to embellish the image panel.
Which one is your favorite?  Have you ever given the one-sheet wonder technique a try?
