Happy Wednesday! It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built. This week, Wendy has given us a super fun tic tac toe board to work with:
Maybe it is the hot and humid weather we have been having, or maybe it is because I love to make Christmas cards, but either way, I have a simple Christmas card for you this week. And I have a matching envelope, too.
A while back, I created these strips of paper scraps. I used one to go across the center of my card and adhered another to the edges of the envelope flap, trimming to fit. I used the same poinsettia image on both card and envelope and hand drew the black frame on both to add some interest. For my card, I used the first column on the board: Use dimension, off the edge, and shimmer or sparkle. I cute my focal panel so the poinsettia is hanging off the edge and I created dimension by stamping the poinsettia twice, cutting out only the inner petals of the second image and adhering them over the whole image using a tiny piece of cardboard to pop them up a bit. I really like doing this when I don't want the full height created by using foam tape or pop dots. I also added two strips of cardboard to the back of my main panel, so it it would stand off the card just a little bit.
It's hard to see, but for my shimmer I used a clear wink of stella pen over the entire image after coloring it. You can see it just a bit in the photo above and in real life is so pretty! In the photo below you can see the dimension on the flower:
And one last picture of both card and envelope together:
Thanks for stopping by! Make sure you check out the challenge on the House blog and see what the rest of the Rock Stars have created. You will NOT be disappointed!! ReplyDeleteDarling card, like how you did the poinsettia of the edge of the square, and added a patterned strip. I like making Christmas cards all year too, more fun than stressful that way!

I love this card, Heather. I'm not ready to create Christmas cards yet, but this is getting me a little more inspired. I like your tip of using the cardboard to boost the image off the edge. The matching envelop makes for a very special Christmas greeting for someone special.
