Happy Wednesday!! It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built. This week we have an awesome sketch for you:
If you have visited my blog before, you probably know how much I LOVE sketches!! This one is a good one! Here's what I created for your inspiration:
I had the sketch, I picked the image I was going to use, found some papers, got the image all stamped, embossed and colored . . . and it didn't really fit (physically) with the sketch. Which was actually ok, because I didn't really like how it had turned out once I got it colored. So I went looking through my images and decided my favorite floral image fit the bill. It also is quite large, but I had the brilliant idea of cropping it so I didn't have to use all of the image. And I LOVE it!!! I might almost like it better this way! I paper pieced the vase (it is soooo perfect for that technique) and stamped the sentiment which just happened to be the perfect size to fill up the empty space in the bottom corner and voila! This card is soooo much better than it would have been with that other image. Just sayin'. For a bit more fun, I made it a gate fold; here it is in action:Thanks for stopping by! I hope you will get a change to play along with us this week; a sketch is a fabulous starting point for your project. And if you need any of the stamps I used . . . check that . . . you NEED this tulip stamp (I'm telling you!), check out the 10% off your entire order coupon on my left sidebar. Here is the collection of cards I have made using this beautiful image:
Oops . . . one got in there that didn't belong. Just ignore the middle one on the bottom. : )

Wow!!! Absolutely fabulous card, Heather. I too love it! Creating a gatefold from the sketch is brilliant! (Agree...that's an awesome stamp).
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Beautiful! I LOVE the way you stamped the image off the side and the lovely color scheme you used! It's extra fun because you made it a gatefold! Now I want that stamp!
ReplyDeleteFabulous card, like how you used part of this image and the gatefold makes this card extra charming!
ReplyDeleteWonderful unique card opening and I like the way you focused attention on the vase by offsetting it on the panel. Wonderful card. So glad you joined us at Die Cut Divas.
ReplyDeleteCropping the image was genius, as it perfectly fits this sketch! Love the colors and unique fold of your card too, and I need to do some paper piecing again myself! I've always loved doing that, and the vase looks perfectly done! NJ!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous card design Heather and I love the way you've paper pieced the vase. There seems to have been some confusion about what paper piecing in on this challenge, but you utterly nailed it! Your collection of cards is gorgeous too and I spotted some more paper piecing in there too! Thanks for joining us at Sweet Stampin' for our Paper Piecing Challenge. Come and play along with us again soon. Hugs, Wends xoxo Sweet Stampin' DT
