Happy Snowman

Happy Friday!!  It's time for another challenge from Jo's Scrap Shack.  As always, we are now an Anything Goes challenge.
Our sponsor this week is the fabulous Bugaboo Stamps:

I have not one, but two cards for you today.  I spent a bunch of time last week piecing together some backgrounds with scraps that were all I had left of a Christmas paper pack I've had for a couple of years.  So, I knew I wanted to use one of them for a Christmas card and went looking in my Bugaboo images to see what I had.  When I came across this adorable little snowman, I knew I HAD to use him.  Isn't he cute??
This card is all about scraps: the background, obviously, and his scarf was pieced from a scrap from the same paper pad, the ribbon was a piece I had lying around that was just long enough for the bow.  The die cut circle was in my bits and pieces stash and the snowflake (which I die cut three times and layered together for dimension) was die cut from scraps of white card.
I used my clear wink of stella pen to add glitter to the snow and around the edges of the snowman.  I also brushed it on the snowflake for a bit of sparkle.  Tough to see it in the photos unfortunately.
So, while I was looking for a Christmas image, I also came across this sweet puppy image that I hadn't used yet and decided it was too cute to pass up.  And that's why I have two cards today.
Cute, right?  The small green banner was in my bits and pieces stash and if you look closely, you can see it is dry embossed with dog prints; of course, I had to use it on this card.  It was a little too small, so I cut it in half and placed each half where I wanted it, then covered up the gap with the image panel.  And there's a fun little tip for you, free of charge, today. : )

Class of . . .

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from the House That Stamps Built.  This week, we have a nice, easy one for you: Anything Goes!    The oldest son of our good friends is graduating from High School this year.  This is the card I made for him:
I've been loving the galaxy cards I've been see all over lately, and decided to give it a try.  I sponged on yellow, pink, purple, light blue, navy blue, soot and black.  Then I used some watered down white paint to flick on for stars.  I was looking for some sparkle to add, and discovered my silver perfect pearls that I have had forever and have hardly used.  I dumped out a bit and spritzed some water and mixed it together, then flicked it on the card as well.
The two and zero were both in my bits and pieces stash, one was green and one was white, so I colored them both black, die cut the one and eight out of white and colored them black, as well.  Since I had so much of the water/perfect pearls mixture left, I used a paintbrush to brush it onto the numbers to give them a nice shimmer and shine.  But that was much to thick and I ended up burnishing most of it off with  my finger.  Now it is a very subtle shimmer.  I heat embossed the "class of" with white embossing powder on a scrap of black card stock.  I stamped the cap onto a scrap of white, colored it and fussy cut it out, then adhered it to the two.  The numbers were all popped up with foam tape and the "Class of" panel is raised a little with a bit of scrap cardboard.
I finished off the inside with a smattering of caps and a die cut "congrats".  Love how this card turned out; it's so fun!  I hope you will get a chance to play along with us, it doesn't get any easier than Anything Goes.

Stamps: Repeat Impressions "Class of" and "Grad's Cap and Diploma"

Love

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.
The challenge this time is: Include an Animal
And here is my card for your inspiration:
I'll be honest, I chose this image because I was down to the wire making a card for this challenge and this image was already printed out.  And, honestly, I was going to make a tag because, as I said, I was running out of time.  But I got looking at this and that and bits and pieces of this and voila!  This gorgeous and adorable card was the result.  That rarely happens to me, as I usually have a pretty good idea of where I am going when I start.  It's hard to tell, but I used a small doily die and vellum to add a subtle texture behind the heart panel.  The button was recycled from an item of clothing my children have outgrown.

Supplies:
Stamps: Di's Digi Stamps "Penguins Wedding Day" digi; Verve "Text Objects" sentiment
Dies: Spellbinders "Filigree Delights"; MFT small doily; Sweet n' Sassy Stamps heart

Monkey Business

Happy Friday!!  It's time for another challenge from Jo's Scrap Shack.  As always, we are now an Anything Goes challenge and our sponsor for this week is Little Blue Button Stamps.

Here is the card I created:
I made this for a young man at our church that who just turned 18.  It's been fun watching him grow and mature the last couple years and he's turned into a classy young gentleman.  I thought this dressed up little monkey was a fun image to use for his birthday.  The little scalloped piece, the numbers and the white circle were in my bits and pieces stash.  I bought this sentiment set a couple years ago, I believe, and this is the first time I inked them up.  Shame, shame, I know!  But, I think it worked fabulously for celebrating an 18th birthday.

Candy Canes

Every time I go looking in my Christmas paper packs, I come across this candy cane paper (which is pretty much the only pattern that has whole sheets left) and wonder what in the world I am going to do with it.  The colors are a bit odd and candy canes don't really go with many Christmas images.  But then I remembered this candy cane image I have from DRS Designs and an idea was born.  Here is what I came up with:
I love sketches that have a lot of layers as they can be perfect for using up lots of scraps, even pieces that aren't large enough but can be pieced together under other layers like my circle patterned paper.  So, I used some paper scraps and the mulberry layer under the sentiment circle was in my bits and pieces stash.

Sending Smiles

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built and this week we have a fun inspiration photo for you:
No automatic alt text available.
Here is the card I created using the color palette:
This card started with the 3-D flower.  My daughter made it for me (from a kit) several years ago and it's been in my bits and pieces stash since then.  I came across a sketch, that as soon as I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for using this flower.  When I saw the color combo for this challenge, I knew the time had come.  The orange layer of the flower was actually more yellow, so I colored it with an orange marker to match the background I created.  For the background, I started by stamping the flowers in the purple and orange, then I added the leaf pairs, stamped the random dots and then overstamped it all with the postcard image for a little bit of visual texture.  I masked the sentiment so I could use only the "sending smiles" part.
I hope you will get a chance to play along with us this week.  You can be inspired by either the photo, the colors, or both.

Peace on Earth

I already used this fabulous sketch, but I had another piece in my bits and pieces stash that was begging to be used with it.  I made this background about a year and a half ago and used a small piece on another card.  Since then, this piece has been sitting around and I was despairing of ever using it as it is not really big enough for much.  But it was JUST the right size for this sketch.

I backed it with a bit of textured silver paper and used the same paper for the strip along the top.  The sentiment is heat embossed with silver embossing powder and the snowflake was die cut from vellum and I added a recycled button.

Supplies:
Verve "Star of Wonder" sentiment; JustRite Stampers circles and stars background stamps (used in a class so I'm not sure of the name)
Dies: PTI "Fancy Flakes"

Birthday Monster

So, I've had this argyle patterned piece in my bits and pieces stash for a really long time.  Kind of figured I would have a really hard time using it.  But a sketch came along that was absolutely perfect and I knew I had to play along.
This is a birthday card for a little guy at our church.  I think he'll love this little monster with his googly eyes; so fun!!  I colored the little monster to match the argyle piece and also colored the banner to make it match, too.

Waterfall/flip cards

Today is my day to share my Pick of the Week on the House That Stamps Built blog.  So, I decided to create some fun, interactive flip (or waterfall) cards.  Repeat Impressions carries a bunch of sets designed just for these type of cards.  They also sell flip card sets (which make creating on of these REALLY easy) and there are also two different die sets that you can use to make them a little fancier.  Here are the two cards I created: one uses the Repeat Impressions flip dies and the other uses dies in my stash so you can see how it looks both ways:
If you want a step-by-step tutorial, Wendy has created one for you here.  Here is my first card:
This one uses the "Flip Fancy Die Set".  Aren't those scallops beautiful?!  The stamp set I used is "Tree Flip Set".  This specific set can be used in any order, really.  I decided to start with the spring tree as it is the season we are in now:
Then I used the summer image:
As you continue to pull the strip down to reveal the fall image, the sentiment also appears on the strip (so fun!)
A close up of the fall image:
I ended with the winter image.  For this one, I added a bit of clear wink of stella to the ground and the tree branches for an icy look.
For some reason, I had one of these small rounded squares in my bits and pieces stash, so of course, I used that.  Also, the bit of ribbon on the pull tab was in the stash.
For my second card, I wanted to show how you can use other dies in your stash.  I used a set from Spellbinders to frame my images and just used a strip of card stock to anchor the flip mechanism.
The images on this card are from the "Shepherd Flip set".  This set, as with most of them, has a specific order the stamps need to go in so they can create the 'story'.  Here is the first image:
I stamped the sentiment in a different spot on this one, so as you pull the tab to reveal the second image, the sentiment also appears:
 Here is the third image:
And finally, the little shepherd boy worshiping the Christ child in the manger:
I used a glitter gel pen on all of the stars and the halo around the baby's head to make them sparkle and shine.  One of the black squares, two of the white squares and all of the ribbon used on this card were in my bits and pieces stash.
I hope this inspires you to create one of these flip cards.  They seem a bit complicated, but once you get the hang of it, they're really quite easy.

The Cat's Out of the Bag

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built.  It's one of my favorites: Tic Tac Toe:
No automatic alt text available.
Pick any row, column, or diagonal, or maybe challenge yourself to use all of the squares!!  Here is the card I created:
I used the center row: yellow, paper piecing, and vellum.  I also used polk-a-dots.  I won this background die within the last couple of weeks and for some reason, I've had this card in mind since I won it.  And I just love how it turned out.  The cat image is one of my newest Repeat Impressions stamps and this is the first time I've inked it up.  I stamped the image on a scrap of white card stock and then again on a piece of brown paper bag (or maybe packaging) that I had in my stash for some reason.  Some of the other Rock Stars have done this technique before and it is really genius.  After coloring the cat and adding a little shading to the bag, I cut them out and pieced them together.  I stamped the sentiment on vellum and heat embossed it with black embossing powder.  Then I backed the squares with patterned paper and adhered the cat with foam tape for some really fun dimension.  Finished everything off with some enamel dots.  In the following picture, you can see the dimension a bit more.
If you need any of the stamps I used today (and you know you do!) check out my 10% off your entire order code in the left-hand sidebar.  And then come back and get inky with us.  I can't wait to see what you come up with.

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.
The challenge this time is: Hand Colored Image
so, anything goes as long as you color your image by hand
And here is my card for your inspiration:
The little bit of lace was in my bits and pieces stash; it was a fun addition to the corner that seemed a little plain.  I gathered it a little bit with some scor-tape before topping it with a couple buttons.  I believe all the buttons, as well as the lace, were recycled from clothing that my children have outgrown.

Fantastic

Happy Friday!!  It's time for another challenge from Jo's Scrap Shack.  As always, we are now an Anything Goes challenge and our sponsors for this week are Little Blue Button Stamps and Just Me Digital Stamps.

just ME Digital Stamps is a new sponsor for our challenge and a company that I was not familiar with.  Well, let me tell you that their images are super cute!!!  I was given this adorable fox to work with and here is the card I created:
Adorable, right?!  Sometimes my printer outsmarts me and I end up printing my images on regular copy paper instead of the card stock I meant to print images on.  It happened to me this week, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I had an image just the right size to cut out and use as a mask so I could sponge the clouds in the background.  This little guy is so adorable and I'm so happy with how this turned out.  the sentiment is also included in the set.  I decided this was going to be the birthday card for my dad, so the sentiment is quite fitting.  On the inside I used some numbers from my bits and pieces stash and a sentiment that carries on the theme from the outside:
