Happy February!! Since it's the beginning of the month, it's time for a new challenge from The Love To Scrap Challenge Blog. Since February is the month of love, our challenge for you is "I Love You". You can create a love or Valentine's Day project. Our wonderful sponsor for this challenge is STAMPlorations:
The prize is a $15 gift certificate to the STAMPlorations store and everyone is a winner this month because Sherry (the owner) has offered a 15% discount to all our participants using the code LOVETOSCRAP15
Sherry provided us with some of her products to work with and I created two cards with them. Here is the first one:
I stamped the image once on my main panel, a second time onto the light blue patterned paper so I could piece the teacup, and then one more time onto a scrap of white card stock so I could layer the leaves that hang over the edge of the cup. The sentiment is from the same set as the image, but I added the hearts from a different set. The work love in the upper left corner (very subtle) is from the same set as the hearts. I left it rather simple to let those gorgeous flowers shine, embellishing it only with the sheer aqua ribbon.
My second card was a little scary for me as it is a bit more "mixed media-ish" then my normal style. But I just HAD to use this beautiful stencil, so I jumped right in.
I started out by taping the stencil to my piece of die cut card stock and sponged on some pink razzleberry ink, trying to make it darker around the very center and the edges. Then, leaving the stencil in place, I used a script stamp and a medium gray ink to stamp on top of the flower. I took some silver glitter paste/mouse to add sparkle to the image. (You can see all that fabulous sparkle and shine in the second photo. I used some black soot distress oxide ink to sponge around the left side of the panel. To finish it all off (and really this was the finishing touch--it really "made" the whole card), I stamped some tiny green leaves and then the sentiment.
I hope you will get a chance to play along with us this month! I can't wait to see what you come up with.
