Celebrate

I thought I was done making graduation cards this year, and then my family got invited to another graduation party.  Luckily, I really do like making cards, so it isn't a bad thing. : )
I decided to try out a fun technique on this one: coloring vellum flowers.  The flowers are stamped on vellum with versamark and heat embossed with white powder.  Then you color in the flowers with inks (and a q-tip) and add details with a pen.  I used a glitter pen after I was all finished to add a little sparkle to the veining in the flowers and then decided to add some glitter to the centers because they just needed something.  The card is really so much more vibrant in real life.  I had to pull out my oooollllldddd camera since my other one is in desperate need of a battery charge.  Won't even turn off at this point!

Challenges:
Just Add Ink #169--inspiration photo (I pulled out the blues and pinks)

Brown Sugar #46--graduation
Sweet Stop Sketches #215--sketch with a twist: it's a girl thing

Make It Monday #121--colored vellum flowers (there's a tutorial video on how do to this)

Inkspirational Challenges #25--CASE (I chose to go with the mostly white background and the pink and blue colors)

  6. What a great grad card for a young lady - the recipient is bound to love and treasure this card, Heather. I love your vellum flowers - they make a unique background to a very pretty card. BTW, I have just used this technique with butterflies, colouring on the back with Copics - it gave me a lot of freedom, as I didn't have to avoid the embossed area. Thanks for joining us at the Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge this week. hugs x
