80th birthday wishes

My sweet Grandmother is turning 80 this month!  Her favorite color is yellow so that's where I turned for a starting point.  I've seen such gorgeously elegant cards using the yellow and gray color combo that I had to give it a try.  I really loved how it turned out, except I do wonder if the black is too harsh.  Any thoughts?  I needed a third color and it was the best I came up with.

Challenges:
Mojo Monday #278--sketch
Inkspirational Challenges #5--anything goes

Crafty Ann's Challenge #82--tie a yellow ribbon (something yellow, something tied and ribbon)
Clearly Inspired Challenge #68--let's get inky (I used ink to stamp, sponged ink around the edges of my main panel and the sentiment panel, and applied silver ink directly from the ink pad to my numbers and the fleur de lis square)

Supplies:
Cardstock: SU!
Stamps: Verve "Joyful Blooms"; PTI "Big Birthday Wishes" (th); Clear Dollar Stamps "Elegant Flourishes"
Dies: Spellbinders Fleur de lis squares; Verve "Mini Classy Labels" and "Pennant trim"; PTI "By the Numbers"

  1. Your grandmother is going to love it! I definitely do not think the black is too harsh. I like the flourishes and pennants in the background. Your inking around the 80 is also great! So glad you joined us this week at Inkspirational!

  7. Hi Heather. Wow another beauty! In my opinion, the black adds the contrast that you need for the combo, and you used just a little of it which is perfect. I'm sure your Grandmother is going to treasure this card! Thanks for joining us at Inkspirational this week.

  10. Absolutely fabulous Heather, I don't think the black is too harsh at all. In fact I think it compliments the yellow and grey perfectly. Thank you for sharing it with us at Crafty Ann's
